ATTENTION DEVS: Practice vs AI isn't for practice at all

So, I am disabled and am relatively new to OW2. Given what I am capable of performance wise in the game, I opted to use the Practice vs AI mode as my primary way to play the game, instead of forcing my limitations into live competitive matches. The people in QP are insanely toxic, so that’s out. Come to find there is this issue in the LITERAL PRACTICE MODE; the insane amount of smurfs and sweaties just over performing and smurfing on the bots (which I find to be extremely odd just on principle alone. What kind of satisfaction could you possibly derive from smurfing on bots?) Obviously I feel some kinda way about this. That being said, I am totally open to other options for someone who has limited performance capability in such a high pace game. Because I am so very over having to 1v9 just to try and get some good play time while I still have the use of my limbs before they are rendered near useless by my MS. I have even had to resort to reporting for griefing after asking the smurfs to dial it down some so other people could play the game too. (idc if that pisses anyone off) I do get the, “Thank You for Reporting” message within a day so it must be working to some degree. There are too many to constantly have to put on avoid, I just end up cycling through the same groups of smurfs. Isn’t there an Arcade mode where these people can create their own games and smurf as hard as they want and chase every PoG? If not, is there any actual game mode that has live people with lower ability due to illness, disability etc… that isn’t horrifically toxic?

Addendum: This was a research project for my cultural anthro class. Doing a paper on the subculture of gaming in the hands of the newer generations of gamers. These responses have been very… revealing. Thank you. I will leave this post up for a few more days so you can flame me for using you. Thank you again for your participation in helping me prove the decline of basic decency and consideration in western civilization. For the record, I do have MS and it is its relapsing/remitting phase but progressing nonetheless. Wish me luck on my thesis. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :kissing:

Best advice is to muste all chats and dont talk. Especially as a new player. Practice vs AI is less effective than watching a tutorial on how to play. So all in all, you just need to grind QP until the MM knows where you belong. This can take quite a few games and you just have to endure it.

Where I greatly appreciate the advice, I am not trying to be or get good at the game, my physical limitations prevent that from being a possibility. Hence, the opting into the braindead mode.

You dont need to be. There are a ton of players who are not good and are not trying their hardest. You can even play comp and be in Bronze 5. Dont think you are alone with this. You can enjoy every part of the game, but you need to play a few games to signal the game that you are a bit further down than the average player. No shame in this. Its a game. Dont feel pressured to only play vs AI. Have fun and ignore others who tell you you cant have fun in a video game. :sparkling_heart:

smurf in vs AI? Pardon? :sob:

when i was new to OW in 2017 I played vs ai for a month. That’s because I sucked. OW was my first fps game ever. After that I tried quick play and I sucked. The match making there isn’t very good. So i went straight into comp and got placed super low, like 400 SR I think. But at least i could play against people equally as bad as me and work my way up to gold. Maybe you could try comp. If you’re as as bad as you say you are, you’ll get matched with players of equal skill.

I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to claim that just because people can play well versus the bots that their choice of how to play the game is wrong. Sometimes people just want to relax and kill some bots without any pressure. The game mode does not need to be confined only to those who actually find the bots to be particularly challenging.

That said, if other players are making it too difficult to play, then my suggestion would be to just make a custom game private lobby with 9 bots. You’re then entirely in charge of how difficult the game is.

Never heard of people “smurfing against bots.” The bots are just so incredibly bad, that it doesn’t take much to beat them and kill then over and over. Are you at least doing lethal bots? Or a lower difficulty?

No joke. Gold weapons and all. Just bullying bots in their spawn

There was another person not to long along talking about how they like to report other players for “smurfing” in practice vs Ai. That wouldn’t be you would it?

Regardless, I’m sorry about your condition. If you want to practice against bots and not worry about “smurfs” then you can do so by

  1. Clicking play on the main screen
  2. Click on custom games
  3. Click the :heavy_plus_sign: create button next to the Search bar
  4. From here you can make pretty much any kind of lobby you want and you don’t have to play with other players if you choose not too.
  5. If you mess around in the workshop you can create some very unique lobbies. But it’s advance so you might need to spend a lot of time in it to truly understand how everything works.

Side note… Don’t abuse the report system against players for simply playing PvE. Unless those players actually deserve it (i.e. racism, sexism etc…) Everyone has their reason for why they choose to play whatever gamemode.

how exactly would this work? photos proving disability? bad performance and the game tells you “heres the que you belong in!

smurfs are gonna exist no matter what, and no, you cant “smurf” in vs ai. even if you report for it

like… you have to realize your case is neither the intended nor average user experience.

reporting people for “tryharding” in vs ai is baby nonsense. you want people to recognize how you play the game but report people for playing it their way? pick a side. them getting banned isnt proof you’re right, if that person went off and been racist in a real lobby and gotten banned, you would still get the “thank you” message, this isnt proof of anything
