At this point you could even do 2-3-2

Yeah, make it 7vs7. Every role has a backup and dps queue time is shorter.

its not happening 5v5 is more likely than 7v7

That would probably be optimal but the game wasn’t designed to have that many players on a team

it seems weird but actually changing the servers to accomadate for that would be super difficult to do. This is coming from someone who talks regularly to one of the main creators of the Subnautica NITROX mod, a mod that allows for multiplayer in a non-multiplayer game. It’s really hard to make and breaks the game a lot,

Multiplayer is really hard to design. It’s buggy and laggy, and just hard to work with

Jeff K has already knocked down of any possibility of this unfortunately. :expressionless:

They have made the game and the servers the game runs on, to run as smoothly as possible with 12 players, going over that would mean upgrading the servers, most likely.

IMO, Jeff should stop the excuses and just upgrade the servers for 7v7 so we can have 2/3/2.

That way, everyone wins.

The people who hate solo-tanking won’t have to. Supports who don’t like 1/3/2 will have two tanks, AND there will be 3 dps slots instead of 2 which will cut queue times by, bare minimum, 33%.

It seems to be the only logical way to fix things - barring removing 2-2-2 altogether.

Geez…

When will people stop these 7vs7 threads…
There’s no need to make hundreds of different threads about the same tiring topic…

Specially when they’ve already said that they are NOT gonna do that.

That will not match how the teamfights and heros are balanced. Imagine teamfights rarly actually ends and that sort of stuff

7v7 , 8v8 and even 12v12 ran fine in the workshop before they fixed the glitch that would let you have bigger teams.
12v12 was a stretch with all the chaos and particle effects, but 7v7 , 8v8 ran fine with no issues, no upgrading servers, etc.

But server run on an raspberry pi. Thats not possible…

2-3-2 with dps damage nerfed by 20%. It shouldn’t be anything difficult.
Well, 1-3-2 is a very poor mode. There’s no tank synergy, which decrease the appealing OW has by a far lot. You just see a lot of Symmetra and Torb abusers.
If I wanted to play deathmatch, I would have played a BR.

The servers, design, and flow of the game WERE NOT meant for that.

Drop it

No issues or crashes.
I think the issue is consoles, but it doesn’t have to come to consoles. OW’s main format is PC. Consoles dont have to have 100% of the features PC has.

All I want is a 31v31 all out war mode

Cause it would cost too many $$$$$ to redo the code for not only pc but console too

servers are optimized with 12 players per game. adding 2 more would make the servers unstable, causing obscene amounts of crashes.

And Jeff said 12 is the threshold for cost. adding the extra players would increase IT expenses exponentially. In other words, it would be too expensive to have more than 12 players.

why not 3-0-3?
that way, we eliminate the problem in a single change.

The game is optimized for 12v12.

It was a bug that was fixed because of technical issues.

Changing it now would cost way too much money, greatly delay the balance process, and possibly hold back the production of OW2.

It won’t happen.

I do think this is the optimal solution, however since Jeff mentioned the server load issue its not likely to come any time soon.

But i do think it might be a topic for OW2.

Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until OW2 is done before they could consider 2-3-2 because of how much work they’d have to do to the internal systems, but I like the idea anyway.

They said they can’t do it now. Obviously because they’re busy working on OW2. They never said they’d never do it.

Yep totally an excuse because 7v7 is so easy to be done within 1 month for free.

No its not. That would take 4 months minimum to redesign everything in servers and the base game for how it processes everything making sure no one bugs out and is stable.
