Put some old OW1 servers back up. Doesnt matter what version.
They already let people download different versions of their games on the bnet launcher.
They’d have to disable buying any mtx, but I dont think anyone would care.
OW2 is “just an update”, “just a patch”, right? It would take no effort.
I just want to go back and play some classic quickplay. The true Overwatch experience.

They never should have removed OW1 in the first place. All this division between 5v5 and 6v6 would not be happening if people had their choice of either.

It absolutely very much inconceivably does.

I’d be okay with any version as long as I get to play OW1 again

Yea, it pretty much is. Which is why there wouldn’t be going back. It’s just updating the same game they have been for 8 years.

Except OW2 drastically changed every aspect of Overwatch and the game has never felt as good as OW1.
I still miss the real Overwatch that they took away from me.

The version immediately prior to OW2 would be fine.

Not a want, but a need. I would never see OW2 again.
Removing hero stacking drastically changed how ow was played in the first few months. So was introducing role queue to get rid of tank stacking. The game changes over the years. The next big change was 5v5.

Hmm let’s see.
Pay for the upkeep of Overwatch 1 servers so that you can split your playerbase and increase queue times in both games, while simultaneously losing out on microtransactions.
Sounds like a sweet deal for Blizzard!!

Role queue was not to get rid of tank stacking, it was to stop every match from being 4-5 dps.

*NO TANKS*

A version of Overwatch where tanks and supports aren’t necessary would’ve been nice.
I dont think anyone truly misses something that didnt last for very long at all.
And that was a massive mistake as well. Its the reason why I started playing classic quickplay.
They drastically changed the game engine, switched to 5v5, reworked multiple heroes, and did a ton of other balance changes.
I’d say all of these combined actually categorize OW2 as a “Remake”. Take some old assets, update the visuals and try to make an “updated” version of the game to sell as new.

It was for multiple reasons. I’m sure they were not thrilled that the meta for a year was tank and support stacking either. Also let people play the roles they want, have more accurate mmr since it’s per role. Not stuck with people flexing to a role they are significantly worse at.
Tank stacking, with what tanks? When role queue was introduced tanks were immediately the bottleneck.
GOATS was a pro scene thing, nobody on ladder played it. Maybe the tippy top of GM, but that is a fraction of a % of the playerbase.
They know they have jacked this game up but they don’t care as long as they keep making the $$$ on $80 mythic skins…
Ah yes, I’m sure the miniscule upkeep cost for some servers is going to break the bank.
I thought 6v6 people were a loud minority?

So what? It’s money coming out of Blizzard’s pocket that doesn’t benefit them in any way. Why would Blizzard spend their money on something that is just going to hurt them? Do you actually think before you type?
Do you know the definition of split? I suggest you look it up.
I endorse this thread. A la classic WoW or classic Starcraft.
