Asking someone to switch

If you ask someone to switch heroes and they don’t, do you-

A: keep asking at the end of every lost team fight or death

B: Accept that they’re just not going to swap and play around it

Or whatever C options you can think of

???

I’m sorry but these aren’t the options anyone should or does use. Come on now.

Here’s what you should do:

  • Only ask people to swap because you think they’re bad, not due to comps or matchups

  • Be nice at first, but quickly start flaming

  • Gaslight the person in match chat, saying they’re throwing because they won’t swap and ask for reports

  • Lie and say they used slurs if that doesn’t get them to swap

  • Start throwing the game by running off the map since they’re throwing by not swapping, that’ll surely work

Duh. I thought this was common sense like come on

there are a few other bullet points I could type but they are really bad and sad that they actually happen

2A: Tell them who to switch off to.
Telling me to switch is half of the problem. You want me to switch. Cool. I’ll just switch to another hero… oh look, you don’t like them either.
If a specific hero would be a better choice, tell me.
Keep in mind, that doesn’t mean I’ll switch to them. Just that I’ll keep it in mind.

I kindly suggest other heroes

“Maybe bastion isn’t a good choice against genji”
“Can we get a reaper to counter winston?”
“May i request a swap from ___ to ____ ? Or whoever you are comfortable with”

If this doesn’t work, acceptance is the best policy.

Ask them to switch once. If they don’t, asking over and over just makes you obnoxious, and more often than not will make your team do worse overall, because it will cause the other person to get annoyed at you.

Just ask once, then play around it

I literally made this post in response to someone just doing A in my game so that’s flat out wrong lol

There’s no point in doing this. If they aren’t good enough on the hero they are playing, they are pretty unlikely to do well on another hero.

I Choose C rage type instead of fighting yelling at the person who wont swap :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So what did i win?

I just don’t even bother asking, people take “Hey Winston, that Reaper and Ana combo is tearing you up, we can’t heal you fast enough, can you go more passive or swap please?”

This is the usual response…

“Shut up, you don’t get to tell anyone how to play, I’m not bad, you are. You just can’t heal, you’re a DPS support, reported.”

Meanwhile I’m sitting on Ana with 10k heals and 3k damage like ???

I don’t ask in the first place. Win, lose, whatever. Play what you want if you’re happy with your rank. If it’s QP, don’t ever ask for swaps

It’s not always about being “good enough” on a hero. Sometimes, certain heroes are better on certain maps or against other heroes.

Also, sometimes they might be practicing - people don’t just play their mains.

(B) and twenty chars

i don’t ever ask someone to switch because a lot of the times if they are trash they will be trash on any hero

For your information…I tripped off that ledge. I wasn’t throwing. Promise. :face_holding_back_tears:

this applied back in overwatch 1 but now most maps arent really forcing any single comp

I usually inquire when things start to look bad. Like, even if I see a Reaper while we have Winton, I’ll let it go because if we can mitigate Reaper’s impact on our Tank, it doesn’t matter.

But if I have a Doomfist who’s getting hack/McRightClicked over and over and over again, I make a suggestion that maybe switching might be the best solution. Maybe we can run D.Va or Winton if he wants to keep mobility as an option, but Doom is just being laid out flat on his butt.

If they say no or ignore my suggestion, depending on how mouthy they got with me about it, I’ll either say nothing and chalk it up to a loss if it comes to that or I’ll sass the crap out of them. (Obviously the letting it go is getting no response, while the sassing is getting a very bad response from them. Keep in mind, I usually only ask once, because I’m not going to waste my breath if they’re going to ignore me or be stubborn about it, no point.)

Cause you know, I get it, as someone who played mostly Tank and Support and is not a very good shot most days on any game, nevermind Overwatch 2, I can’t tell you how annoying it is to be blamed as the reason for the loss because the enemy went Pharah and I couldn’t deal with it while playing DPS. Being harassed to ‘stop throwing and pick a hitscan to deal with the Pharah’ was never fun.

And I get that people want to play the heroes that they like because it’s fun for them, but, how can you have any fun if you’re constantly dying due to the hard countering? If you’re just dying over and over again, how is that fun?

If someone tells me to switch , even if i am already on the hero select screen because i thought i should switch. I will stay the same character and not switch and reply with UwU in chat for the rest of the game

This has happened to me several times.
I’ll be playing Junkrat, they tell me to switch because he’s useless, so I switch to Widow. Then I get “oh hell nah, widow?? you aren’t good enough to play her ur trash”

C) ask them how i can enable them and hope they don’t say “stop feeding”
