Im from the PH, literally every single game of my comp when I came back to asia lose. Cuz for reason america servers ping is capped to 200 which before the update was 60-100. So i came back to Asia and holy every single game im the only who can speak english, some koreans most in my game they insta-lock dps and basically lose. Also I had a game where my whole team is korean and 3 of them just sit in spawn running around so they won’t get kicked.
Communication is key, still it is really hard to do that in Asia servers.
Can we atleast have like a SEA region or a region for koreans?

Then is it ironic that most of OWL are Korean? I keep seeing that in stream chat on twitch lol
Yes, Koreans dominate the Asia server and so do the Chinese from China and Taiwan and Hong Kong.
I play on the Asia server though. Have not met another English speaking player yet.

well, i’m mexican and i can’t speak spanish because we don’t have our own server, (also because racism) there’s a brazilian server where south america plays but they still complain because brazilians speak portuguese, not spanish and the are known to be one of the most toxic regions and sadly, they are the mayority of that server
i still think that central america (with mexico, some maps don’t take mexico as central america) need their own server. at least i can speak english and most of the people that play knows how to speak english at least to a basic level but it still rough
I’m PH too!
Go to the American ones, but do be careful of toxic ones though.
I mean geographically I’d definitley consider Mexico North American. You’re like a brother to the USA!
But I do find it odd that Mexico isn’t with other Spanish speaking nations server wise. That must make communication hard. I think most of us just assume Mexicans can speak English fluently, which I suppose is a bit unfair.
i know mexico is north america but some maps put it in central america.
MOST of the time mexicans can understand and speak english to at least a basic level. but not EVERYONE can understand it.
a time ago i found a guy that was also mexican (i could tell by his name). it was a comp and he didn’t knew english (this happened when i was silver), this guy was hard stuck in silver but it wasn’t because he was bad but because he couldn’t comunicate with the team. in that match i translated everything to him, it was hard but it was worth it.
i played with him at least 5 more matches and i tranlated everything to him. we won those 5 matches and that guy carried us. sadly, he stoped playing overwatch because he is a really competitive guy and he tought it was unfair to be in disadvantage just because he can’t speak english.
I mean, Americans are good at the Olympics, but you guys boast one of the highest obesity rates. Can’t really judge the average of a country by their best.
The best players in the world are Korean, but by all accounts toxicity, throwing, flaming, etc, are super high among Korean players to the point where they actually name and shame banned accounts just so people have proof that Blizzard are doing anything. Just cause Koreans are good in OWL, doesn’t mean they can’t be problematic in the ladder scene.

You do realize it’s an Asian server where none of their main languages are English so if you want someone that speaks English (regardless of why you want to play on Asian servers) join the Europe or American server
Judging from the context of the OP, it’s not his native language.
He’s not an American expecting people to speak English, but it is the most widely spoken second language, so OP is hoping that if he gets people on the Asian server, even if they don’t speak Filipino (which I presume is OP’s native tongue considering he’s from Philippines), they can speak at least a little English so they have a common tongue they can communicate in.

I am from South-East-Asia with English as my primary language, and I choose to play on U.S. server as I prefer to be playing with English speakers.
I do not have a mic but I do try to listen if teammates make reasonable call outs.
I get very irritated when a non-English speaker start ranting over the mic (or someone keeps his mic constantly on and bombard the whole team with background noise) so I am quick to mute those.
Sometimes I wish there is a way to limit teammates to those that speak certain languages which I understand. It is not an issue in Quick Play but even as a Bronze Noob I do appreciate proper communication in a competitive game where the objective is to win as a team.

I’ve found players who speak Spanish but either stay out of coms because of language barriers due to needing to play on NA servers but not speaking English. Also from Mexico. Luckily I am Mexican so I can talk with them but it really would be nice for Central Americans to play on servers where their language is common.
This is exactly my point , thanks.
Your ping is the same, they just don’t display your ping anymore. What you’re looking at is your latency.
Aren’t there SEA servers though? As an Australian, I occasionally get connected to those instead of my usual Sydney servers. People still speak English, it’s just the ping is a bit rougher than what I’m used to, at around 160 compared to my normal 35-40.
Honestly most people I’ve met (including me) don’t mind if you speak Spanish, as long as the majority of us understand you. I regularly play with two Puerto Rican players, a Mexican, and a Cuban. Only two of us speak English as a native language, and I’m the only one who can’t speak Spanish (though I can mostly understand it, for some reason). We make all calls in English, mostly for me, but if they start talking in Spanish I never care lol. I’ve also played with people from Colombia, and of course, some central/eastern European countries.
Maybe you should request a feature that Blizzard can add a “languages spoken” option so the game can try to match you with players who speak the same languages you do.
exactly, most of the people. but when you are mexican eventually you will find racist people, and let me tell you that the loud minority opaques the silent minority
