Ashe's ADS wobble is pretty bad

Aiming down the sights for Ashe’s primary weapon is distracting compared to Widowmaker and Ana’s ADS. Your crosshair and the scope are constantly at war with each other. It’s become apparent with the new Warlock skin that the wobble is very distracting and making it nigh impossible to aim with Ashe.

I know with the Warlock skin, that Jeff Kaplan has already posted a fix that’s in the works to reduce the transparency of the scope. It looked damn awesome, but in practicality it is very disruptive to aim. (It is less noticeable on the other skins, but I’ve heard a fair share of people complain they can’t hit things with Ashe.)

Here’s a video demonstrating the wobble:

A solution I can think of is to have a toggle for shaking ADS, a on/off for first person animations, so the gun can stop violently shaking and throwing off your aim. This isn’t to say the animations in first person aren’t well-done, but this flashy-ness over functionality is pretty annoying.

Another solution is a toggle to turn off all first person models, like how you can in Team Fortress 2. You’d be able to focus purely on aim, have less visual clutter. No blind spots in your FOV. But I doubt Blizzard would go that far.

tl;dr implement a toggle for Ashe’s scope wobble/animation, it’s very bad and throws off aim.

This is something they should have fixed the day she was released

This is something that shouldn’t exist in the first place.

Isn’t wobble like this fairly normal for FPSes? Along with things like breathing, flinching, etc.

Honestly when playing ashe, i’m so hyper focused on my target that I’m just going through muscle memory to click heads.

I rarely notice the ADS wobble.

If the middle dot still dinks when clicking heads, I don’t care.

Good video

Can I suggest some major slow down during the wobble moments to really see how far off it goes, maybe pausing briefly at the worst moments of it to illustrate how off it goes?

Here’s how offset the scope can get:

That’s how everyone should be aiming. You should use your crosshair as a reference and focus on targets, and not tunnel vision the center of your screen. It’s another reason why my opacity on the reticle is turned down so low.

It’s with this scope, your reference point is being constantly thrown off. It’s more noticeable on the Warlock skin than the other ones.

Need to be able to disable that annoying stuff

I’ve never had this bother me. I have over 200 hours on her.

Right but the Reticle stays in the center so really it’s okay.

Yep. And it’s not visually jarring at all.

First time I’ve heard of it being visually jarring. If this is an issue to you, you might not want to try other FPS games like Apex, R6S, CSGO, COD, or Battlefield.

Also, Moira is always an option.

You should come around the forums more often.

Grew up on these games.

I’ve been playing FPS games since before online play was even a thing.

Very rarely has their sway ever bothered me

As with all things- context is required.

Ashes visual mechanics are relatively unique to her in this game and make her an exception, rather than the norm for a number of reasons.

I swear you like to argue for the sake of arguing.

If long range precision with rewarding headshots is something you’re after- not really.

They have entirely different play styles.

Whoah dude why so toxic?

They are normally but blizzard is an innovative and progressive development studio so they don’t want any of them especially the oad balance guy who is on record saying he doesn’t like recoil.

So now we have high dmg character with little drawbacks to their weapons and sustain character suffering from spread and couldn’t possibly keep up with burst dmg now even with decent aim

Swaying during movement is quite common in FPS games, but it normally corresponds with where the gun will fire, so the weapon’s sights can act as your aiming reticle. Ashe’s weapon in Overwatch is unique in that the visual sway directly misrepresents where you’re aiming.

It was worse when it wobbled side to side, now it’s mostly up and down. Before it would interfere with your custom cursor. Now it does not. I played last night.

yeah… there is wobble and also a huge freaking eye on the reticule

Yes but it has absolutely no spot in this game if characters better than Ashe don’t have it.
