Ashe Theorycraftying! :)

Judging from videos, the knockback from the coach gun is up to 2 tracer blinks (1 blink from pushing your target away, 1 blink for knocking yourself backwards…Also, note that all these match ups are based off of a 1v1 situation, in a team fight the dynamics completely change. Feel free to challenge my opinions by playing the devils advocate and posting your own anti Ashe scenarios.

So against some other heroes:

Vs Doomfist: if doom charges at you, you can knock yourself out of the path of his punch. If doom uppercuts you, you can knock both you and him back, if done at a downward angle you can get some sick trick shots on an easily shot doomfist while throwing dynamite at him. If Doom slams you, depending on the amount of damage you just took (the height of dooms slam), try to put a few hip fire shots into him, if doomfist goes for a punch, immediately use your coach gun, if doomfist uses uppercut, see above

Vs Genji: a good genji is going to learn to save his dash to close the distance AFTER you waste your coach gun. So don’t use it early in the fight, instead bait out genjis deflect by going into ADS mode, do a warning shot outside of his deflect hitbox just in case, the genji will instinctively use his deflect. At this point throw your dynamite at him, it will deflect at you, but wont explode for 2 seconds… IMMEDIATLY use choach gun after this (and since the dynamite is now considered genjis, you wont explode it by shooting it), knocking you and genji back Now, genji has a choice to make, if he dashes back at you, he will be hit by the self damaging dynamite. but you wont. OR he abandons the fight and takes cover, as now you are ads and shooting at him. it is assumed that even if genji deflects the coach gun, the effects will still knock back both parties or even better, double knock you back, sending you either farther away. Either way, you win by using ur coach gun and dynamite vs a genji in ur face.

Vs Tracer, If you have really good aim, one shot her with ADS and a Headshot. if you dont, then wait till she dives you, use coach gun, then immediatly aim down and throw your dynamite while backing away. It will make you inaccessible to the tracer, while you take your time and shoot her from a distance. remember to clear the blast zone of your dynamite!!!

Vs Mei, Simple, if she gets in your face. use your coach gun at mei’s feet, it will knock her back, and you up. If you suspect that mei has her self heal available, don’t throw dynamite. instead ads her until she is forced to use either ice wall or cryo-freeze (cf). If she uses CF, count to 2, and then throw your dynamite behind the CF, if timed right, she will be hit by the blast the moment she comes out of CF. If mei uses ice wall instead of CF, then, because your at an angle in the air, throw your dynamite on the other side of the icewall, attempting to shoot it. If you manage to hit, then you will draw out her CF, now mei is at a massive disadvantage, feel free to pressure her with your superior mid range firepower.

VS Sombra: Melee (if shes close enough), Coach gun her back and then fire from the hip to try to draw out her translocator. If you know where the locator happens to be, feel free to dynamite it / the health pack its near. If sombra is not stealthed, feel free to gun her down, if shes stealthed and heavily damaged she will retreat.

VS Hammond: Hammond will be very effective at killing you, so don’t expect to win a lot vs him. But if you want to outplay him and maybe delay your death (or with some well aimed dynamite shots and head shots, if hes out of the ball, win the fight) When you see Hammond coming at you, throw your dynamite at your feet the moment you realize hes targeting you. when he slams you with his pile driver, use your coach gun to get even higher up in the air. If done fast enough this will explode your dynamite that was pre-placed on the ground. also you SHOULD be out of the blast range because of hammonds pile drive. At this range Hammond guns will be less effective. never fire from the hip vs Hammond, if you are 1v1ing one. U wont do enough damage to kill him. you have to hit those high damage ADS head shots to stand a chance.

VS Reaper; you counter reaper hard, unless he catches you with your coach gun on cool down, then your best chance is to launch dynamite and hit a head shot, probably going to die though as your coach gun is your massive advantage vs reaper.

VS Winston; Same situation as reaper, however. if you find yourself without your coach gun and its a 1v1…STOP STRAFING. Move strait backwards. There’s no point trying to dodge a cleave attack like Winston’s, and by moving strait backwards, you force winston to run in a strait line at you. Now hit a few head shots and win the fight. 3 ADS head shots Will kill Hammond. or just unload your hip fire into him and hope for the best.

VS Brig: You have several options available, feel free to create distance how ever you see fit. Only chance brig has at getting you is if she is already on top of you, at which point, just coach gun her feet, knocking her back, and sending you flying. Key with brig (and other close range heroes) is to remain at a distance. Naturally. XD

VS Hanzo: Against Hanzo, at range, its all about the better aim. Close range, use your coach gun behind you to launch yourself above Hanzo, it will be harder for him to head shot you if you are right above him. Immediately throw the dynamite and air shot it. You should overpower hanzo, unless he gets a few lucky shots on you with his storm arrows.

VS Widowmaker: At range this is purely who has the better aim. Good luck  Close range use the same tactics as with hanzo

VS Soldier, all about who has the better aim. however, if you see him drop his biotic field, throw the dynamite at it and force him to leave the field. Shoot the dynamite if you can, either way you win by either making him tank the damage from Dynamite, or leaving his biotic field.

VS McCree, close the distance and punch him, its a one hit kill. XD Joking aside, you should never close the distance on McCree, ever. Never be with in a tracer blink of McCree, as a roll and a flash bang / combo will beat you. Use your coach gun to always maintain the distance and just Out aim him.

VS DVA: A good DVA will beat you most of the time, by either absorbing your coach gun, or your ADS shots or even your Dynamite (can anyone confirm, does defense matrix eat dynamite?) Your best chance is to use your coach gun to launch yourself OVER her. forcing her to re-acquire you in her sights. If you use your Coach gun to create distance, a few seconds later dva will be on top of you again, and just melt you. So i recommend you just go ham on her and make HER flee or lose her mech. If you manage to de-mech her, use your Dynamite to finish the baby dva OR a single head shot ADS will work too. Most of the time, however, you wont win this match up, so don’t hold your breath.
