Ashe has 60scoped, and widow/ana have 30. please explain

i just logged into the ptr and saw that ashe has 60 zoom sens, while ana and widow have 30 by default… can one of the developers break it down in difference please? should i put my widow zoom sense? would it feel the same etc etc?

thanks!

More than likely because she’s aiming down sights and they’re aiming down a scope

It’s just a compensation for the zoom you get

The default scoped sensitivity is related to the zoom that you get when you scope. Since Ashe has “iron” sights, she doesn’t get as much magnification when she aims down them (as compared to Widow and Ana). Therefore, she’ll have a higher scoped sensitivity than them. Unless you’ve changed your Widow/Ana scoped sens, you don’t need to change Ashe’s. If you have, you should (just a guess) change Ashe’s so it’s double your Widow/Ana scoped sens.

so, technically 60zoom is = 30 for ana / widow?

i use 30 on widow and ana.

so if we use like 40 for ana we need to put ashe to 80???

Basically you’re trying to keep mouse movement across your screen constant for all your sensitivities. If you move your mouse 6 inches to the right when unscoped, your crosshair should move the same distance on your screen as when scoped.

So let’s say if I’m looking straight ahead and on the far right edge of my screen there’s a fire hydrant, it takes me 6 inches of mouse movement to put my crosshair on that fire hydrant. If I scope in, the fire hydrant is no longer on the far right of my screen because of how scoping works. Once scoped, let’s say now there’s a mailbox on the far right edge of my screen. If I have my relative sens set up correctly, I should only have to move my mouse 6 inches to the right to put my crosshair on the mailbox.

When you scope, you look at a smaller area. If unscoped the distance between the edges of your screen is 10 in game meters (without walls/obstructions), then scoped the in game distance may only be 2 meters. Therefore, when you’re scoped your sensitivity is decreased so that the real movement of your crosshair on screen (measured by physical distance between start and stop) is always the same.

Yeah, Ashe is ADS not really scoping.

It is probably in relation to how far zoomed in it gets. Regardless you can set all of them to feel the same zoomed in as they do not zoomed in.

Im doing some testing atm, widowmaker seems 2x zoom, so thats basically 51ish fov, ashe seems like 1.5x to me or so, hard to measure using ingame models for me, so idk.
Also doubling the value does not seem right to me, that’s not how fov works, we need the exact fov so we can calculate the sens tbh.

here’s the formula for widows scope: tan(51 / 2 deg) / tan(103 / 2 deg) * 100
for ashe simply swap the 51 for her ads fov.

Actually, the default is whatever Jeff likes. He said so in the emongg interview. He stated the best part of making a game himself is he gets to use default settings since they are customized to him.

Yeah i’ve seen that, quite the comedian our papa jeff is

For now i did this: 103 / 1.5 = 68,66666666666667,
tan(68,66666666666667 / 2 deg) / tan(103 / 2 deg) * 100 = 54.3287968659

My new sens = 54,33
This is assuming it is about 1.5x zoom or 68,66666666666667 fov (though its probably a more rounded number).

It feels about right too, i cant be certain wether it is correct, but i’ll roll with this for now untill i got further information, so take this with a grain of salt.

The most accurate widow sens is 37.94 at 51 scoped fov btw seeing as now we can enter more digits.

If anyone has new info about the exact ashe ads fov it would be very much apreciated!!

ashes scoped fov is different from widows scoped fov (widow zooms in more)

Whenever you get in game you can always just align your crosshair on a specific pixel/object and rotate end to end on your mousepad to find the ending position. Then repeat while ADS and it should end on the same spot.

Appreciate the quick math though, should be an excellent starting point for myself.

Not 100% sure, but it might be magnification differences? Ashe uses 1x sight (red dot?) while Widow and Ana use 4x scopes?

Actually widow and ana have 2x scopes, or more simply put, they magnify everything to be double the size, but games dont magnify linear as everything you see on screen is being projected from 3d angles to a 2d screen, hence i am calculating in fov angles.

Is that true? Because some of their defaults are inexcusably bad.

Whether it’s true or he was joking I don’t know. But it was said.

That’s fair. I hope that’s not true, but it would explain quite a bit.
