As a US player, is it possible to gift a Battle Net game to a Europe friend?

So I really wanted to think about gifting a future game to my European friend, but I am from the USA. So how can I do that?

Gifting might be restricted depending on the item and the receipient’s country of residence. Most items (including all Overwatch items) can only be gifted if you and your friend are friends on BattleNet. Make sure that both of you are listed as friends in the same region (Americas, Europe, Asia) as the region that you intend to complete the transaction on (note anyone in these three regions can play and have friends on any of these three regions). Then look for the item you are looking to gift your friend and click “gift”. On the next screen, type in the BattleTag (including the suffix code). Note that you must be friends with that player for at least three days before you are allowed to gift items to that player. If there is any restrictions, the shop will stop you.

Restrictions include:

  • Not being friends long enough
  • Parental Controls enabled for the receipiant account
  • Country of the receipiant has laws which prohibit the sale of such an item (for example, Belgium and the Netherlands prohibit the sale of Loot Boxes, so Loot Boxes cannot be gifted).

If I use my Blizzard gift card, can the credit only be for US accounts or any regions?

Blizzard gift cards can only be redeemed in the same region they were purchased in. But a user should be able to switch the region they are shopping from manually (do this by clicking the “:globe_with_meridians: Language” link just above the Blizzard logo on any given page and switch it to the appropriate region. Note, the country restrictions will still apply as needed.

My friend is in Italy. I can also play with her in Overwatch, but I have to switch my region to Europes to see my friends list of the players in Italy. I am very certain there is a way to gift the game in some other way.

Be aware that if you gift it to someone’s email address, then that can be redeemed on any region (except China), and is the same if you gift the game to your own email address (on the transaction history you can copy the game key and give it to your friend). Make sure that they are logged in on the correct region before they redeem it and they will be good to go.

I don’t think the payment method makes any difference.

Why can’t you just gift him a Visa gift card for the value?

Visa Gift Card too much problem and not worth it.

Hi. I 'd like to ask you what happened with your problem. I recently got a 20$ gift card and wanted to know what I can do with it because I am in the EU region.
