Now I know this probably will irritate people but as a support, you can genuinely see from a different perspective just how players can be. Comparing to playing tank or DPS, your so into the fight its difficult to know if a player is feeding, doing something wrong unless its very obvious. However as a support, sticking back you can really see it.
For example, if you noticed the enemy tank switched to D.va and is absolutely steamrolling you, you immediately notice a few things. Absolutely no one is trying to contest or even counter her. I think its because most players immediately think âwell, the next player will surely switch to someone to counter her.â Players wont switch UNTIL the game is nearly over in which case. Why switch? you allowed the D.va to run the match up until now. Theres nothing you can do but hope you can just outheal any damage.
That would be because if you do, you will be standing there for 3.5s engulfed by matrix and unable to do any damage except melee. Very engaging gameplay. So everyone now ignores her because they canât damage her anyway unless they a beam hero.
What? You mean you hate it when a Mercy keeps the healing beam on you AT ALL TIMES even when youâre full HP and not boosting the damage on the decent DPS? Pfft Get out of hereâŠ
I think the problem is not that no one is contesting her, itâs the no one kills the thing thatâs keeping them alive (the supports), sometimes the team is focused on getting the tank the supports escape scott free.
Sadly I have to play pure healbot in most of my games to babysit the tank or DPS⊠Wish I could damage boost more but as soon as I go blue they dead⊠So thatâs why
Itâs true people donât understand that support is usually behind everyone and overly aware of what theyâre doing and any given time.
Itâs literally our job to watch you and make sure you donât do something stupid.
So we witness more than most players.
Thing about this is that if youâre having to heal bot as mercy, itâs literally better for everyone in the entire game if you just. get. off. mercy. In so many games I see people continue to sit on her despite total lack of value and effect then wonder why we lost. Drives me INSANE.
Play enough of every role and youâll start understand how good or bad your team mates are just by watch how they file out of spawn, refuse to group up, or feed into enemy teams when their team isnât nearby.
I can see how bad players can be playing as tank, support, or dps.
the difference is that tanks and supports have no excuses. Supports have ultimate level abilities and insane 1v1 potential, whereas tanks have so much armor they dont know what to do with it, and one tank in particular(wont name any names), can eat ultimates, bullets, is annoying, says âwinky faceâ all the time, and just ruins the game.
Tracer is the best 1v1 hero in the game. Wtf you even talkin bout. Last time I checked sheâs isnât a tank or support
Are you one of those geniuses that compares D tier dps to S tier support and cries about no impact? Because we can compare Mercy to Tracer and say support has no impact using that logic
On the opposite side of this, supports can also be horrible and not realize they are bad.
Like watching someone die they totally could have saved and thinking âwow that guy sucks lmaoâ then proceeding to spam play DPS Kiriko for 200 damage total for the game.
