This is just an idea, but would burst damage be toned down sufficiently if armor dmg mitigation just mitigated 25% of all type of attacks, instead of mitigating 50% if dmg is less than 10 and 5 flat damage if dmg is more than 10?
Your looking to hurt burst but overall your hurting characters like tracer sombra and soldier, its a bad idea.
I honestly disagree, and heres why.
Tracerâs individual bullet deals 6 damage, which turns to 3 in current armor. With my armor changes applied, that 6 damage will be reduced to 4.5, buffing her dps numbers.
Soldierâs individual bullet deals 20 damage, which turns to 15 in current armor. With my armor changes applied, the damage number will stay the name.
Sombraâs individual bullet deals 8 damage, which turns to 4 in current armor. With my armor changes applied, the damage number will increase to 6.
Therefore, ânon-burstyâ heroes will benefit a lot while âburstâ heroes will be toned down.
Unless youâre saying that it will make these heroes broken.
I always thought it should work in reverse, and then balanced for lower damage accordingly. So as the prime example, a 300 damage shot shouldnât be reduced by 5. It should be reduced by 30, so 10%. until you get to lower damage thresholds (like 40 and below), it would reduce by a flat 4, then below 10 it would reduce by 50%. Something like that.
Thatâs actually a pretty cool idea.

The concept would be blast armor, possibly a 25% mitigation for instances of damage greater than 30. This will have no effect on 76/Tracer shots that rapidly deal lower amounts of damage but will affect Doom/Hog whose pelletsâ damage are accounted for in a single instance.
Needless to say, it will be ultra-effective against snipers

Either way, the concept of armor countering burst damage would be a lot more useful for tanks across the board and could be easier to adjust for balance. I hope they plan to change it by OW2
it also makes supports easier to balance since they wonât need burst healing as much and allows hitscans to be nerfed. What a winâŚ
