By releasing skins for only a week, aren’t they missing out on possible revenue?
Take the ice cream venture skin for example. They could have had sales for the entire summer because it fits the season. But the skin was only released for a week.
Why are they time locking skins? Why can’t I buy them when I want them?
Because FOMO generates sales.
If I can pull Xiao any day of the year I can just pull for him at my leisure, if I have a limited timeframe I can run out of pulls close to his banner ending and decide to spend to guarantee him if I’m getting close. OW’s trying to emulate that in skins instead of sad anime Anemo boys, but the thesis is still there. If I can buy it at any point of the season there’s no pressure to spend now if I’m short on coins immediately but can get the necessary coins by season close, if I have a week that applies pressure.
Like it or not people do decide to buy something when they have no insight into the next time it’ll be available.
Weekly rotation is more for engagement, it’s like the F2P shooter version of a mobile games Daily/Weekly check-ins/tasks/quests ect.
Think of it this way: if you could buy it whenever you wanted, you could put off buying it indefinitely.
Also, you don’t know what’s going to come up in the rotation, so you aren’t able to compare. This way you’re tempted to buy skins simply because they’re good, instead of simply buying the one best skin for your hero of choice.
Agree with you. Some of the skins that they are time locking need to come now not sure when they will come.
I missed the Reinhardt weapon the light hammer. They released the other two variants on mercy and reaper but not rein. Hoping that comes back soon

Agreed.
Its an unfair system as 1) people who just join OW2 miss out and 2) it forces people to spend money, week-by-week, when it might not be a good time to spend money (like the 1st of the month).
The only good thing is it forces people who are indecisive to make a choice 
I find it frustrating that other items like Highlight intros and charms are time-based. Skins i get but the other lesser-known items? It seems silly…
