Are Zaryas Perks, lack Luster? do they need work?

so trying out Zarya and just feel theirs so much more they could have done,

=currently her kit is.=

Jump-Ups

  • Secondary Fire’s self-knockback is increased by 75%.

(this is cool, but you already can get this same height with bunny hopping and ground shot)
(also you have to bunny hop and ground shoot just to get the height you would need to make it mediocre traversal, so sadly not a fan.)

Graviton Crush

  • Graviton Surge deals up to 30% of enemy max health as damage over time.

(this one is ok i think, sadly its just makes Graviton Surge an Anti Tank too but its ok, compaired to Jump-Ups however theirs not even a choice here, pick this everytime)

Energy Lance

  • Particle Cannon’s beam pierces enemies while over 50 energy.

(this is also an interesting take, but since its activated at 50 energy and barriers still stop your attack dead, its alittle underwhelming, i feel it ether shouldnt have the energy requirement, or Barriers shouldnt stop it fully)

Spotter

  • Projected Barrier activates ally health regeneration and increases their movement speed by 15%.

(I like this change, but it only effect Allies and since its for so little time its again abit Meh. it really should effect both Particle Barrier and Projected Barrier)

Zarya is already busted and far from lacluster perks, any decent zarya will always be at least 50 charge so particle lance its a no brainer allowing you to melt people for free

I’m not going to ask for anything yet since the Zaryas I’ve seen so far have kinda crushed everything in their path. Not that that’s much to go on since I haven’t played that many games with perks in yet, but I think I’ll hang on before asking for more.

Extra bubbles and range is only going to end in tears; first the enemy team’s as they get melted and then Zarya’s as she gets nerfed into the ground as a response. Let’s not go too crazy here.

Zarya and doom seem to be the winners of the perk system in the tank category

perhaps then give her a Perk that can reduces her Bubble cooldown by 1 sec, rather than having another bubble, like she was in old overwatch, since they are bringing back utilities?

and make her energy lance pierce shields alittle, much like Winstons Primary fire, it would only be half but something?

i just want their perk options to be more of a choice,
Jump Ups and Spotter i dont see taking over other options such as Ult Damage

which is why i suggested changing Jump ups

Hazard is better than both by a mile

I havent seen many hazards win in the matchup-esp against doom

Zarya’s perks aren’t just fine, she is one of the few heroes with 4 good choices instead of 2 clear winners.

how is Jump-Ups at all a choice vs Graviton Crush
any hight gained with Jump-Ups can already be done with a BunnyHopBlast.
and hights you could gain with Jump-Ups BunnyHopBlast, are few and far between.
VS guaranteed Damage to your ULT that will do much more damage to Tanks

Can you explain this bunnyhopblast more? From what I have seen, the 75% lets her get to many places she otherwise couldn’t. Especially if she is not in combat and shoots one into the sky, and then another at her feet when it’s landing so she gets twice the boost.

you wot m8? lol, the 75% added knock back is a significant increase. Go to the practice range and check out all the places you can get to with it.

That said, I like the knock back perk and the spotter perk. Sometimes the graviton crush is okay.

My biased opinion is that Zarya has some of the best perks out of all the tanks.

lol to back you up on this, my first match I didn’t know how to use the perks (didn’t have them key bound yet) and still dominated :sweat_smile:

Except now you go 75% higher so not sure what you are talking about here. Her options for getting to high ground will increase a lot.

in the matches i had yesterday zarya was the most op character with perks, she is an unkillable beast, second strongest character is junkrat, his granades are so powerfull, but he at least dies because isnt a tank

i pick hazard vs a zarya and got destroyed, there is nothing i could do to pass the bubbles

sure, you aim down and jump just as you fire, as your momentum is going up as you get hit with the blast you will fly further than you can just looking down and shooting.
this will give you around 50% more vertical hight,

what you describe is called the Zarya rocket jump, a timing interaction where you fire up and then time the down shot to land at the same time for massive height.

75% is a large number, but because of her interactions with how her blast works its not a 75% height boost. in testing your at most only getting 45-55% height boost at most.
look at Bastion he only gets 25% boost, but in testing its about 45-50% increased jump height.

the thing is you dont have to take my word for it, just go into training grounds and test for your self, try bastion out and see how his 25% boost feels, then play Zarya with her 75%.
they should be night and day but somehow it seems like both only offer a 50% bonus to height.

this reminds me of several years ago when Overwatch put out patch notes saying they increased Tracer damage by i think 4 points, people lost their minds.
everyone was complaining that she was more OP and everyone said they needed to revert the changes and Nerf her.

the problem was even though it was in the patch notes, they actually didnt push threw her damage increase, people just heard she got a buff and attributed, losing to her as this latest buff to her kit when in actuality she handnt been changed

I’m not going to debate if it’s actually 75% or 55% or what. As I really haven’t tested it. But it is clear that she goes higher, and it still allows getting to places she cannot without the perk. It still does have a use.

Zarya players when they can’t just ignore the tanking ability all game

Giving bubbles a reduced cooldown is not a good idea. There already is almost no down time. Zarya doesn’t need a movement speed buff once you finally get out of range of her 15m laser beam either.

It’s pretty fun, and I’ve only played maybe 10 games so far… but of those, it’s not often that players are just lining up like bowling pins so you can shoot through them all at once lol

Yeah that is what I was expecting to be the case.
