so ow2 is up and running and we’re all chiming in about what we like/dislike about the game. do i like everything about it? no. do i like the new battle pass/store dynamic? no. do i feel that i have to grind for every little bit of loot? yes. do i like the new maps? yes. new heroes? yes. push map concept? yep.
that said, i play the game because i enjoy it, i take it as is. not everybody’s gonna be happy about everything, just like in everyday life. i deal with it.
game on.

I stated an opinion that back in the “good old days” (to which everyone refers to when complaining about monetization) playing a game was the reward. There was no expectation of any “progression” or “earning stuff as you play”. Needless to say, that opinion wasn’t popular.
perhaps blizzard could offer an “entitlement bundle”.
Back in my day, a character model was made only of cubes, and we liked it!

There’s a difference between small problems to bigger ones and players complain because they want to see fixes for the game they like.
I see no reason not to talk about the bad stuff, otherwise they would never go away.
And it’s not like the downside is something small as one hero is slightly weaker/stronger or a small bug.
It’s a major difference than what we had before and it’s very greedy and very problematic both for the players and the company because they would lose money and players if they would keep acting the way they do and the players would lose a game they like.
Sounds like you’re only here to pat yourself on the back.
Back in your day, developers actually put time, effort and love into their franchises.
I still enjoy FFA, but the main game modes kinda bore me. And Comp is getting more and more frustrating.
Maybe once Zarya gets dumpstered I’ll enjoy it a bit more.
I am. Quite a lot. Not with the game, I did liked the 1 better, but I enjoy to laugh of my friends saying funny things while we’re playing. Can’t stand this game solo tho
The game didn’t constantly have it’s hand out begging you for money every 5 minutes either.

when a company offers up a f2p game, they’ve got to generate revenue somehow, they aren’t a non-profit business, i understand that. so the swag/loot is monetized, but if i’m playing for free and earning the same loot as paying gamers, what’s my incentive to buy the game?
so, yeah, all loot costs real bucks. but i’m not gonna pay $20 for a skin. not gonna happen. i’ve already invested $60 in the game, that’s enough for me.
It’s the same game lol we all paid for overwatch 1. I don’t mind them selling new skins but selling 4 year old skins that were free to unlock for players a few weeks ago. It’s scummy.
This isn’t really a sequel. This is just a sequel on how they monetize their games from now on.
