the 2-2-2 6v6 mode from like nov or dec was incredibly fun and made me excited to play ow2 again but having it ripped away and replaced with lesser versions of it and ending with one of the worst metas in the game’s history (why? was this supposed to be a ‘you think you do but you don’t’ gotcha moment by presenting one of the worst versions of the game?)
From what I’ve seen, we’re getting 2-2-2 Quick Play and Competitive permanently mid-season 15, so gotta wait 1 month.
that is acceptable, unfortunate that it’s a month out
Patience is a virtue
When 6v6 comes back, it prob wont have these idiotic perks since its going to be a GOATS meta throwback. Hope they enjoy watching the metadata switch to no one playing this 5v5 dumpster fire when 6v6 comes back.
Where are you getting that info from? They said there would be a short comp 6v6 season that is open queue with a 2 tank limit. No where did I see them say 2/2/2 qp or that any of it would be permanent. Have a link for that?
Saw an OW2 roadmap in a Master Ian Gamer YouTube video.
Does this game honestly have the number of players to keep all these different modes going? If they are gonna bring back 6v6 thereby admitting 5v5 was a failure just get rid of the latter entirely.
It’s not permanent. Just another, and probably final test.
They’ll decide what to do with after that. Probably random LTM ranked events occasionally .
That’s Classic. Not the 6v6 mode/tests. They are separate
A return of 6v6 will have perks. (Unless they bin them after this season, which seems unlikely).
What is weird to me is coming to the forums to complain or ask about what is already answered and addresses… On the forums …
Are we getting 6v6 back? Yes. Permanently? We don’t know.
The 6v6 you played was them testing options. First was if the game could handle 12 heroes on the map at the same time in lower end systems that still play a lot. The second test was to see if there is an alternative form to 2-2-2 that is viable because the reason it was removed to begin with was queue times and people not playing tank. The third test is this season and it will be interest in 6v6 in competitive mode.
After that final test is when they will make a decision and announce what will happen. They got about 10% of players playing it in a sustained way when it was 2-2-2 so I would expect it to make a comeback in general and now it’s more about QP, comp, or both.
The other thing you are playing is overwatch classic. It has nothing to do with 6v6 other than it just happens to be that format. This is a special mode they are doing one or two per season of of notable metas throughout the life of overwatch. They did the release day patch to start, and then even though they plan to go two weeks+ for each with that one they went to hero limit right away which was planned just like on release.
They just did moth meta as the next. And the next one coming up will be goats. I assume then they will do more iconic metas as they said they would. They are not in any way the regular mode or to be confused with 6v6 or it’s return.
Will 6v6 end up being permanent? Probably. Will it replace 5v5 almost certainly not.
Short answer the 6v6 comp test is coming soon. The QP tests have concluded, and ow classic is in no way related.
I’m pretty sure perks was Blizz’s latest bandaid to try and keep 5v5 alive.
Perks were implemented to spice things up and generate interest in the game, especially in the face of emerging stiff competition. The future of 6v6 is unclear. My guess is that we may get our current 5v5 Open Queue modes replaced with a version of 6v6 Open(ish) Queue with Role Queue remaining a 5v5 format.
Jumped into my first game of the new season. Didn’t see 6v6 comp like I was promised. Maybe they switched comp to always be 6v6? Nope.
COME ON BLIZZARD WTF
Ya like I said, to keep 5v5 alive.
Note that perks also penalizes counterswapping, the bane of 5v5.
Absolutely dumb to take it away at all.
Agreed. 5v5 is just awful. I guess they still stuck in their “you think you do but you don’t” phase.
They haven’t deleted the arcade so I assume that’s a good sign
True, also for me it felt far better than 5v5 version
I hope 6v6 is brought back permanently and in a 2-2-2 format. If this happens, most of the core players might return. People still defending 5v5 honestly make me laugh — most people have realized by now that 5v5 is complete nonsense.
Now, all that’s left is to wait for the mid-season update.
