Just because u are losing 3 games in a row, that does not mean that the other team has a smurf. It could be simply someone better than u (?) How do u look at someone and say “Yep,that’s a smurf”?
yea easily they are a low level and slaughtering your team yep its a smurf, not rocket science they normally have a partner a gold or silver high lvl
You MAY encounter a smurf, but recently everyone is complaining about “getting at least two smurfs in every game”. Honestly I’ve never felt like I encountered one
ive had a huge amount this season, other seasons barely any
It’s just random I guess but there are certain factors like rank and the time people play at… like you’re gonna see a lot of smurfs in low ranks, and the majority of the playerbase is at those ranks, so the vocal majority fits that bracket and we hear nothing but those people talking about smurfs in their games. People definitely don’t see smurfs every single game. Negative experiences tend to stick out in our memory so people like to latch on to those negative experiences with smurfs. It’s why you don’t see the forums full of people saying having smurfs on their team is great because they were carried
Unfortunately, it’s harder to tell who’s smurfing with private profiles, but there’s a few obvious signs. Like someone who is playing in a rank far below what they were in previous seasons and fragging out with 86% kill participation. Or a silver mccree duoing with a plat mercy who only pockets them and hard carrying against golds. Or someone who isn’t really trying to help his team win but just screwing around and trying to 1v6 your team with insane mechanical skill for their rank is probably a smurf.
I really havent seen more of them this season, but the easiest is super low level but high rank/stats, murdering everyone in the universe. You can have previous experience and all that, but if youre level 30 and youre suddenly a god its fake.
Im a support main and can spot smurfs with in the first few minutes of the game.
I say first few minutes cause im in high plat and you get a lot of dps with really good aim, but you learn pretty soon that they arent ranking up cause their positioning is terrible and they dont know how to play with their team.
Tbh most smurfs I personally came across are boosters, some will out right admit it if you ask them, they are either boosting an account or duoing with someone they are boosting (hey if theres a Cree/Hanzo blowing up everyone in the universe duoing with a guy who used to be a dps main in gold for 10 seasons and now is suddenly a support main in high plat its not rocket science).
I did play with smurfs on their off roles (say a Zen main smurfing on tank roles), which seemed fair they didnt run around killing everything etc.
Or a Genji main running around playing Cree/doomfist and other dps they cant play at their main account level. These people usually know what they should do for the most part but dont have great execution.
As for enemies, it comes down to certain mechanical skills unique to the hero.
Idk,in my games if we spot a smurf its usually just accepted as ‘‘communicate it to the team and work to shut him down and why hes a problem’’. I dont remember anyone freaking out and getting salty about it, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose against them but we do what we think we can to deal with the situation and out play them.
P.S. I dipped into gold for a bit this season, I found it confusing people didnt notice smurfs on their team at all. ‘‘What happened? how is this so easy? LMAO they so bad’’ Well, um, our Hanzo is smurfing and he just murdered everyone if you havent noticed.
If there are, I barely notice. Heck I don’t even know.
I just play the game, if i win i win and if i lose i lose. Im sure someone has called me a smurf once or twice. I wouldnt know. Heck we all are smurfs in that case cos I’ve had team that I ran through and there’s teams that has ran through me and my team. I don’t automatically think oh Smurf, report. I just think group up and counter.
I’ve seen a couple that I assume were smurfs, probably less than 10 though. Especially at the beginning of the season.
I remember that guy platinum rank, defense gibraltar on widow. he was sitting on the “big ball” in front of spawn and one-shot the whole team pretty much the whole round.
Now I do not care if it was a GM or a ten years CSGO veteran but the guy was definitly not platinum rank. I think he was pretty much just passing throw the lower rank though.
Next game he was in my team and had like 4 gravs under two minutes. So yeah… I guess it balance out in the end.
It’s more of a console problem not a PC issue. Alt accounts are free there.
Obvious smurf sign, level 25 and playing many characters at a god level accuracy…
Just stop talking. No one says its only because of smurfs and to instantly assume what you just said is straight ignorant in a team based game.
im not against smurfs. if they play good, then the mmr will place them against people their skill level therefore we shouldnt encounter any problems with that. if they are placed in lower ranks than they belong, then they will be reported for “throwing” and probably get their account banned or suspended. if they played really good, then they should be in ranks where they belong unless mmr and sr doesnt place them there in this case, it’d be the system’s fault but level shouldnt affect the game or their rank. or at least my opinion about this so it’s up to how you think about it.
plus you have people who play ow on console but move to pc, do you blame them for being level 1 and playing really good?
When you’re playing against a level 30 who can perfectly aim and animation cancel Tracer’s Ult with a blink, you’re playing against a smurf.
I’m actually starting to think that it isn’t really smurfs. It’s probably the system forcing losses on a decent player into a lower tier.
It’s hard to differentiate between smurfs, alts, and new players who have other fps history so they aim generally well. There are also the people who have had a few bad streaks. Like a plat player in low gold because they lost a few games or played triggered/drunk/high.
There is a big difference between a plat in low gold after a bad weekend and a diamond slumming it up in high silver/low gold
Is there though? In the end, you are playing with or against someone who was better than the rank they are in. For some people that is mechanical, for other it is game sense. End result is someone who is better or was at one point because of the system in place seeing a skill that other player doesnt have.
granted someone that is playing 3-400 SR below where they normally play can make a pretty big impact. But in order to truly tilt a game or solo carry effortlessly you need to be about 1000 SR below where you normally play. And yes there is a big difference between plat and diamond.
Honestly when I was stuck in silver a few seasons ago the difference between 1500 and 1900 was pretty damn decent.
