(Warning: This is just a rant, it has nothing to do with Zen’s balance)
Like, I know Zen is balanced and whatever. But I just find him so boring now. I used to main him, I have over 50 hours on him and climbing to Diamond with him. However, having such little mobility, a massive hitbox, bad healing and just being the easiest target for a flanker, it’s just not fun for me anymore.
Mercy is harder to kill than Zen. Zen has a massive hitbox for flankers to just one clip him, or Widow to pop his head right off. And no amount of damage from discord can really justify how boring he is for me. I haven’t seen a proper Zen main in a very long time, and the games I do see him, they usually switch after a couple of minutes.
I don’t see what’s fun about constantly getting jumped, having no way to defend yourself, being so slow and being easily outmatched by heroes who don’t even have half the skill floor as Zen. The amount of skill you have to have to actually play him effectively (I’m not boasting, I am in no way a good Zen) , and his whole kit being focused around aiming, it just doesn’t feel great when you get killed by a hero who doesn’t even need to aim.
I’m not asking for him to be buffed, I’m just having a rant tbh. I’m gonna start playing more Ana and some DPS instead of Zen now.
So if you’re still a Zen main, do you still find him fun? Being constantly targeted and having no mobility.
Yes, because Zen is an amazing hero. He’s a DPS hero with one of the best ultimates in the game, one of the best abilities in the game and healing that’s just fire-and-forget. The only drawback is his large hitbox, which is mitigated with proper teamwork.
Really? I don’t see him that often, especially not in QP. I only ever play Zen in Comp because it’s a safe pick for me, and I know that it will increase our chances of winning. But in QP, I only really play DPS or Moira/Ana because I find them the most fun, and always have. Idk why I just mained Zen, I just happened to climb with him and stuck with him.
Just reading that made me feel good. It’s one of the best feelings to just hear 5 dinks and see that lovely red arrow in the kill feed.
But discording people isn’t enough. It may be a good ability, however, you have to have decent aim to hit things. And with projectiles, that makes it harder. He might be doing a lot, but to me personally, I don’t feel like I’m doing anything as Zen. Even when I’m on fire I just feel like I’m standing there doing nothing.
Yeah honestly it’s not that uncommon in my QP games. (The only problem is not getting 5 dps but that’s another topic) Once there is a healer usually I play with a Zen less than half of the time. I think people just really like that if they have to heal, they can do damage as well.
Zen is always my go to when i don’t know what to pick, and the days i can land shots i feel like a beast, especially when i can land a volley on a Tracer, i feel like dancing if i do that, so yes, still super fun.
I was a Zen main at one point, but since Tracer and Genji were overpowered and uncontested at the time (and for so long) I just decided to drop the hero because playing him in a solo queue environment was so terrible. I think that’s what a lot of players did hence the low playerpool he has despite his strengths.
i dont exactly MAIN zen but i play him the most out of the rest. i consider myself a almost flex main, because i seem to be flexible with healers tanks and SOME damage.
I still main him. I find playing Ana really boring, her gun just doesn’t feel satisfying at all and compared to Zen who it feels so good when your get your hits.
I do get your issue about playing Zen in quickplay. I play quickplay only really, and it’s tough to run zen optimally. He’s not a solo healer so when no one else picks healer it sucks. And no one tends to protect the zen much in QP, you’re on your own.
Zen’s still by favourite to play. But I do switch to Moira if I’m dying a lot. She’s the opposite of Zen, very hard to hit and evasion abilities, excels 1 v 1, and you don’t have to concentrate too much on aiming. But the balance between healing and damage is sort of still there which is one of the reasons I like playing zen so much.
Yeah I’m a zen main. If you look at my profile you might see hanzo first but I completely dropped him and only play zen now in qp and a lot of comp. I love him and since I’ve played dps most of time in overwatch i am pretty good at keeping defending myself. And I have pretty good game sense so he is a great pick for my style. I want to get 200 hours with him.
Tracers aren’t so bad as Zen, always feel like I have 50:50 shot against them, she’s just too frail. And generally even in QP your team helps against Tracer if you’re close to them.
Doomfist, Sombra and Genji far worse. Sombra is probably the worst, she can just hack and kill you from the backline. At least you can see tracer coming, she just appears from nowhere and makes it difficult to just hide in backline. Not to mention her EMP which makes things even tougher.
