Are there any new Tracer guides/tips?

I used to play her a lot but quit after Dive was no longer meta. I went to Sombra and I feel her very safe playstyle has made me a lot worse at tracer. Also It feels like lots of newer heroes counter Tracer so If there are any new tips on how to play her I’d like to hear anyone out.

First thing you’re gonna wanna do is act like your ult is literally useless because you can’t one shot tanks with it. Second, complain that tracer has counters.

As evidenced by Xelaker’s post, playing Tracer may not even be worth it simply due to the blatant discrimination you’ll endure from many community members.

But the best advice I can give is: make sure you have a Zen, Mercy and/or Winston on your side. Tracer pairs nicely with these heroes and is too often powerless without them.

Force the enemy Zen/Mercy to switch to Brig. Not sure how to profit after that but that’s definitely step one.

I hear that Tracer is very good at distracting the healers.

Not for killing anyone, just distracting. Mosquitos simulator, I guess.

Great pick for those who like to marginally inconvenience people.

Honestly unless you’re really wanting to play tracer she’s currently not worth the extreme effort it takes to get value out of her. She’s viable at all ranks, but you’d be playing under your effective skill level by playing her right now. Best advice I can give would be to learn to safely pressure the back line and learn to blink pulse. You want to make supports made enough to switch to brig. Then you can farm the frontline once their healing output has dropped from going brig.

I think thats what tracer should be

An annoyance and distraction and keeping healers busy not healing their team, if you manage to disrupt the enemy using tracer then you are doing a good job at her and gaining an advantage for your team.

Tracer shouldn’t be a super mobile and slippery and be a super killing machine at the same time! Shes a flanker dps not “i wana flank and 1 v 6 and eradicate them all”

Now she is where she needs to be, she is just not part of the meta, but hey there are hero who were never been meta and been deemed throw pick for 3 years so dont feel bad.

no, why play her over genji or sombra then.
she is supposed to be a high risk high reward glass canon. she can only distract by actually being a threat. a god skill tracer is supposed to 1v6 and if 6 of you you cant stop a 150hp squishy because they have more skill you deserve to loose.

Just be annoying.

I don’t know how they do it in your part of the world, but I just kill them. Easier that way.

Those god tracer can still do them so whats your problem?

But now those other less skilled tracer cant just do it so easy this time, skill vs reward you say?now be a god tracer and practice!

When people told symm

“Why play symm when you can play other dps”,
But there are people like stevo or luminum who can make her look so OP.

This approach might carry you as far as gold but no further than that.

I don’t recall anyone saying they wanted this. Are you arguing against a fake quote you made up? :joy:

The God Tracers of the past mostly play Widow, Soldier and McCree now from what I’ve seen.

That is only my opinion and take on how tracer should be, did i claim any devs said those?

Did I?

Yes they can play widow or any hero when tracer is not working just like how everyone should be doing when their favorite hero is not viable at the current meta, simple logic right?

It’s not so much the effort - it’s just aim. If you can one-clip a support or sniper or DPS, you can play Tracer very effectively. If it’s a duel and your aim is just slightly better than your target’s, or equal, you should win because your kit creates time and opportunity to always take the first shot and have a leg up if it comes to a second. You can still 1 v 3 and win, maybe just don’t try it Vs a Brig.

In a teamfight, dancenumber is correct. Start at the back, be that on the snipers or supports, and kill your way to their front line. Heal up, loop back and repeat. Pulse Bomb anything you can stick and yes, the blink-pulse (tap pulse and blink like a sixtieth of a second later to instantly throw the bomb out as you emerge from the blink) is a powerful and effective tech.

Go forth, young Tracer. The cavalry is needed.

You are wise to know it. Yes, a good Tracer is a daredevil. You must be not just crazy enough, but skilled enough to pull off some ridiculous bloody stunts.

And part of having 150hp is knowing full well how fragile that is. It’s poof dust. It’s nothing.

And Tracer’s a daredevil ^.^ you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. So get in there and mix it up.

Edit: do ridiculous stuff. Y’know what I like to do sometimes? Walk out into a choke like Blizzworld while facing my team. So my back’s to the enemy as if I don’t know where I’m going or I’m drunk. Then blink backwards through the enemy line, one-clip a squishy and either let them chase me away from my team or escape back to my side.

It’s an insane thing to do and it’s Tracer at her best. She can do that.

Well you put it in quotes. Now whether or not you were suggesting that the dev said it, Tracer players thought it or Gary Busey proclaimed it from a mountaintop is subject to imagination.

Maybe this is where we have a fundamental difference of opinion. I don’t think it’s acceptable for any hero to not be viable – at least not for this long.
