Is there a way to check stats. I am under the assumption that 6v6 is way more popular right now than 5v5
I mean, queue times for me are lower in 6v6 but the games are also very much worse so… idk if it’s worth it. Also as a 5v5 OQ enjoyer, I’m mad they got rid of my mode and replaced it with one I’m not enjoying at all.
All I know is that when I ask players in chat which they prefer, the people playing 5v5 tell me they have no interest in 6v6, and those in 6v6 say they’re only playing 6v6. I’ve been playing both but I’m going to stick to 5v5 RQ from now on, I just don’t enjoy 6v6 anymore.
The only way to know the stats would be for Blizzard to tell us.
However, whenever they’ve run 6v6 events before, they have not accounted for a majority of player hours (from what they’ve told us, not guesses). I think it’s pretty unlikely for that to be different this time.
I’m still of the belief (and this is pure speculation) that most players who only played OW1 will prefer 6v6, and most players who only played OW2 will prefer 5v5. I’m an exception as I played since late beta of OW1 and I DEFINTELY prefer 5v5 but out of every player who ever touched the game and has a possibility of returning, I really think it’s like 50/50. Which if it is, that’s going to be an issue…
Lol, as a 6v6 enjoyer who played mostly off tank, all I can say is, welcome to the club
I don’t think that’s a safe assumption. It’s just as plausible that people don’t bother with side modes and stick to the main one, and praise for 6v6 is coming from a loud minority of players.
Luckily the 6v6 mode doesn’t need to be more popular than 5v5 RQ, it just needs to be more popular than 5v5 OQ. I’m hoping it takes that spot. And that if it does, we won’t have to go through the bloomin’ placements again. I’ve had my fill of rank resets.
I personally only play 6v6 when I play comp. Unfortunately, when I wanna chill with friends, there’s no QP for it, so I still play 5v5 OQ (because are still somewhat killable there).
B-but… I like that mode…
5v5: you’re on a track, it’s much harder to derail.
6v6: There is a track, but you will derail before you even get to a regular speed. Unless you happen to have a team of people that actually can/want to keep the train rolling.
I’m talking about team comp and your team knowing where they sit in it.
mine is the opposite, 5v5 games are much worse
Well, in a dev blog you got the answer to your question. 5v5 comp is roughly being played 3x more than 6v6.
5v5. I played a lot of 6v6 oq last few weeks, and I’m seeing the same name over and over again.
After playing both modes more, they’ve kinda just blurred for me. My negative opinion of 6v6 has wavered somewhat. At least when I’m not playing tank, I still prefer to solo tank.
