and would you recommend them to a new player?
Not particularly.
Hanzo if I had to pick- his ability to play at range allows him some degree of safety in a new player environment.
Doomfist can easily be used to feed constantly if you’re new to the game.
Honestly though I’d pick up a hero like Reaper or soldier if you want a decent hero to start and learn the basics with. Who the heroes are. The maps. The interactions all the heroes have with each other. Etc.
Hanzo’s skill floor is moderately low, but Doomfist isn’t.
But don’t let this stop you/them from playing those heroes.
Also, I’m talking Console Overwatch, not PC. If that makes a difference.
According to several posts i’ve seen here Doom is a no skill high reward character.
With 4 1HKO abilities.
But try pharah
No, for an fps player beginner i would recommend hitscan heroes.
Soldier 76 and Junkrat
Junkrat is actually very good on console as a starter character.
76 will make you feel like a Spartan that got stuck back on earth.
In a noob vs noob situation= both,no problem.
Hanzo can mostly spam through most things and still be useful, and doom against noobs im sure would do decent dmg.
Tho if the new player has a lot more experience in fps, ashe, cree and soldier would be better picks probably.
No I wouldn’t recommend them to a new player, especially not a console player. Hanzo’s trajectory and positioning is something to get used to, and doomfist is an ability and combo heavy hero. Simple hitscan characters like soldier who can heal himself and sprint are the best for new players to get a feel before they branch out.
No you want either simple heroes like soldier, reaper, bastion or heroes that survive well like roadhog to start
Definitely not for a beginner.
They will die instantly with doomfist and will probably have no clue what to do as hanzo.
For FPS players - soldier, widow, reaper
For non FPS players - mercy, torb or rein
Hanzo is easy to pick up, but it takes 20+ hours on him to really do particularly well on him.
Doomfist on the other hand, is the last hero you want to try first. Both his skill floor and ceiling are imo the highest of every hero.
Absolutely not.
Especially when 2/2/2 is gonna be a thing in QP.
Although some evilness in me is saying “Dew it!”.
Hanzo is okay, if you can or willing to put in the effort to learn to aim.
Doomfist is not a good beginner friendly hero, he isnt that difficult for many reasons, including oversized ability hitboxes, but he also has no transferable skills to anyone else.
Doom is easy mode, you do not need aim, literally just learn cooldowns and animation cancels and you can oneshot people with 2 different combos.
Hanzo needs you to be able to use your mouse at least.
IDK if I would call them “easy” or noob friendly, but they are simply not as difficult as people make them out to be. They have high skill caps but lower skill floors compared to chars like Widow, Genji, Tracer, McCree even.
Hanzo specifically has a very forgiving hitbox imo.
It’s been stated countless times… all heroes have the same hitboxes to shoot at.
How many hours do you have on Doom? Can you object ramp? Can you extend your Rocket Punch the extra 10 yards every time? Can you curve your Rocket Punch around corners?
Sure, if you want to be a bad Doomfist, you can just spam his cooldowns. But if you want to be a decent or better one, you need to learn all of the above techniques and they’re not easy to master.
Wait…WHAT?!?
This is a thing? When? And How do I do it?
Hanzo definitely is.
You can look it up on youtube. You have to have really high mouse sensitivity and have mastered the extended rocket punch (Getting that extra 10 yards by timing a jump just-right at the end). During the 10 yard extension, if your reflexes are fast enough, you can curve it.
