Are f words in voice chat bannable?

Tank main who swapped to sombra. The few tank games I play, people try to force me off my tank, rudely, and I don’t say anything bigoted but I do tell toxic people demanding counterswaps to frack off.

Unfortunately, I think replying to the toxic person with f words is more bannable than the people yelling at you for your hero pick. So are f words just autobans? I want to know because blizzard never explains any account action at all.

My last time, I was on sombra and they tried telling me I was hard countered as if reworked sombra can be hard countered lol. I had highest kills in lobby but team was hyper passive. We weren’t losing cause of hero select but cause of them refusing to fight and typing every second instead. But they yelled at me to switch sombra and I responded accordingly.

EVERYTHING is currently bannable.

Does feel that way. Bigots I report are not returning account action reports though recently, so maybe it’s been recalibrated to ONLY target the victims replying back accordingly lol

Shut it

I got silenced on my account because of swearing…….I really wish the game was rated over 18 so people could just use voice chat properly. I’m not saying they should allow anything like racist etc! But the fact you drop a swear word and then it gets reported by a salty team….its just sad.

but see, here’s the problem…blizzard actually INCLUDES a language filter into the game…so if you are offended by such language…you can disable it, right?

i mean, if you follow one conclusion to another…the fact that they have a language filter in the game at all, rather than just outright banning foul language, kind of means they…sort of condone it…right?

(edit) oh, you said voice chat…well, i mean…you cant filter that i suppose but, it still holds the same, they allow foul language in text chat via the option of the language filter…so dont know…

F words are not bannable - in plenty of countries it is a normal part of language. Here in Denmark even children can use the F word and any other word. They believe ppl should be able to express themselves any way they want and that the US and UK obsession with telling children not to swear is itself childish and makes them want to swear even more because it is cool.

If you can’t handle the F word you shouldn’t go out in public basically.

That is different from whether someone is being toxic. If they are directing toxicity at you and that includes the F word then sure, they can be reported. But using the F word without being toxic is fine. You really need to get a life if you are reporting that.

I’m pretty sure cursing in chat can get you a ban if you are reported. But I don’t think that you get banned for it unless someone reports you.

people in my games curse all the times… wym?

Everything is bannable if enough people report you. The system makes 0 difference as long as the report threshold is reached.

That’s because you see the punishment applied to yourself firsthand and not the punishment of others.

That being said a good rule of thumb is not to respond to the toxicity, so start there.

No it’s not.

It’s definitely from compounded reports.

I don’t mean autoban as in getting banned immediately and automatically from saying it once. I mean autoban as in you’re automatically banned regardless of context, even if you’re swearing at someone who was toxic to you.

Not specific to Overwatch but on Xbox Live I got muted for 48 hours and recieved 2 strikes of on my Xbox/Microsoft account for sending a message to someone on Xbox saying “gg, lol”…

You can google it, has happened to others as well.

I’ve sworn at someone in voice chat in retaliation to them being toxic and I have never been actioned. It honestly probably depends on reports though; I highly doubt my team actually reported me lol

Just make sure that all participants are cool with you.
It’s not really about what you say, it’s more about how much people like you.

If you choose to play the wrong hero, it’s better not to say anything.

The F word you use is not bannable officially because there is a built in chat filter that is turned on by default. if anyone is being offended by it, then they should not have switched the censor off.

The other F word, yes…very bannable.

That said, it doesn’t matter what’s bannable because people love to false report and get people silenced, banned, etc.

This word has essentially lost its meaning due to overuse by terminally online Twitter and Reddit weirdos such as yourself.

This was in voice chat so no censorship. And yeah I don’t use the bigot F word.

The people who deny bigotry online exists tend to be self identifying as bigots themselves.
