I tried playing competitive for the fourth time and got banned because it said “applying Update” making the suspension 8 hours long.

Same here as of 5 minutes ago i had no idea it was an actual bug and thought it was just wierd coincidenses 3 days in a row smfh has blizzard said anything or acknowledged this problem?

Happened to me as well. Isn’t the 1st time i wasn’t put into a game then banned.

I’ve been dealing with this one, too. As if having a glitch that locks up the entire game and forces a restart isn’t bad enough, the game acts like it’s our fault!
I guess I’ll play something else for the next 8 hours

I have had this issue everyday this week, but thankfully I was only queueing for QP. Did not realize it would count me as leaving a comp match by restarting my game to fix the Applying Update issue. Got banned for an hour. How does crap like this actually make it into the game without somebody noticing?

Blizz needs to fix this already, it’s game breaking. And they better compensate for those who had this issue multiple times.
I may be wrong but downloading new drivers might fix it. I haven’t had this problem since I noticed a new driver needed for GeForce. But it’s speculation.

Shop works, but helping players and cancelling leaver penalties for a bug introduced 6+ months after launch? Small indie company that can’t help.
happend to me the last couple of days.
the “solution” joining practice range or custom game before queueing up for ranked doesnt work anymore for me.
I dont see why i should stay banned for a known bug

Just received a ban on my first game on due to this bug… Like I work all day, take care of the kids, eat, and want to play some OW2 and first rank game on I get “APPLYING UPDATE.” Additionally, receiving a ban… why does this game hate me.

I also just got a suspension for abandoning a comp game due to this bug that wouldn’t let me into the game lobby. My party member playing from the same household was able to get into the game.

The same thing happened to me, wouldn’t let me load into the game while just leaving me loading forever, had to alt f4 out of the game to stop it

Bonjour je tiens à souligner une énorme faute commise par votre système de recherche de partie classe me bloquant sur une page sans rejoindre la partie en cours me forçant donc par conséquent à quitter cette derniere et ainsi être banni 3 fois de recherche de partie compétitive, après ces 3 ban je suis désormais banni toute la saison à cause de vous et je ne peux ainsi pas jouer à votre jeu compétitif avec mes amis, je trouve cela affreux de m’interdir de jouer pour une faute que je n’ai pas commise. J’aimerais donc que vous trouviez un moyen de régler ce problème qui ne surgit qu’à moi sur mon groupe d’ami ou alors de me debannir car la saison dure encore 38j et j’aimerais pouvoir jouer à votre jeux mon pseudo PlayStation: Unicorne_Luca et mon nametag: DARKSASUKE#21504

Same here. Everytime I open Overwatch for the first time, it wants to 'Apply Update" when I try to get into a competitive game. It will not go away unless I close the entire game, thus making me leave my match and I get suspended because of Blizards choices. I am getting really fed up for getting suspended and getting punished for something that is Blizzards faults.

I have th exact same problem, happy to see that i’m not alone with that problematic bug. I got suspended again by this stupid bug, and some of my friends are already permanently banned from competitive games because of that thing.

It’s happened to me and 2 other friends this past week. It’s annoying and then we can’t play for 15 minutes. Hasn’t happened more than once in a day thankfully but still, c’mon
Also once blizzard itself had an “update” pop up that f’ed up my game, not just the loading screen

I just joined a game and it stayed in “applying update” on my comp game now I’m suspended for 15 minutes.
Climbing ranks is hard enough as it is without this extra stuff, Blizzard.
