Appealing Overwatch Ban

Hi,

I received a shocking email from Blizzard support today that my Overwatch account was suddenly banned, the reason specified was: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (“hacks”).

I’ve not used any hacks, you can even watch my Overwatch VODs: Twitch. I’m only a small streamer, and a plat rank healer - been playing the game for years and never had any suspensions/warnings/etc.

I’m trying to appeal this but blizzard support pages keep going in circles and I see no way to contact support, what can I do?

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you be a bit more specific? Here are the precise steps for appealing an account action:

Please note, there is no way Blizzard can provide assistance with this on the forums.

I’m in the same boat as you man. I don’t have any VODs as proof but I mean my mid-gold quality stats should speak for themselves? I don’t want to support a company that does this by buying another copy of the game, but even if I did that, what’s to stop them from banning that account as well? I have never run hacks or scripts, so all the non-illegal programs would still be on my computer and I could get banned again.

Thank you for the reply.

I appreciate that forums is not the correct place to discuss this type of issue and i fully understand that.

I have put through some support tickets so i am currently awaiting a reply on this.

The main issue i had at first was the first ticket i sent through i got a email stating it had been sent to the World Of Warcraft Support team. But i later googled the “Appealing Ban” That you have linked above (So thank you very much for that!)

Right now i am just worried & scared and would I be able to use the “Phone call” option in the Contact support area?

Again i understand if you cannot go into any specifics as this is a very open topic and each case is handled differently.

Once again thank you for your time and response.

Account action appeals are only available through the web ticket service, even then live chat and callback options for things like technical support are not available at this time due to the pandemic.

If anything check your status of any open web tickets here:

Thank you for the quick reply!

I will keep my eye out on the open ticket and see what the response is.

Again I fully understand forums is not the best place to discuss this kind of topic.

I look forward to seeing the reply of the ticket.

Thank you for all your help.

I got banned earlier tonight as well and I have no idea how or why. I’m not a streamer and I haven’t tried to rank in several seasons and even when I do I’m only gold. I’ve been playing blizz games for over a decade and I don’t cheat.

two other people that made the “i did not cheat” threads brought up they both played valorant? could it be valorants anti cheat mucking up and angering warden?

I wish I could say that was the case.

I was never that interested in Valorant so i never got a key.

But thank you anyway dude.

Same, I’ve never even heard of valorant until today.

Linus Tech Tips talked about this and how unless you’re high profile and have a big audience it’s unlikely you’ll get any help or support with this. I’m probably going to drop my other game accounts as well as I do not want to lose 15+ years of progress because of something I did not do.

I am hardstuck bronze since season 1 and have been randomly banned for “hacking” of all things while I’ve been no-life on World of Warcraft. I suck and the thought of being called a hacker is laughable. Do you know what’s happening? I’ve already submitted an appeal.

If you have submitted an appeal. then just wait it out dude.

I’m in the same boat. Try not to take it out on the Mod here dude.

Give blizzard some time. things will go back to normal.

I just want to check in and say that my ban was just overturned.

"Greetings,

As part of our ongoing effort to combat nonparticipation, abusive behavior, and other in-game violations, Blizzard recently closed an Overwatch license on this Blizzard account.

After performing an additional review of the evidence considered in this action, we determined that this account closure was an error. We are reopening the license for play, and hope you will accept our sincere apologies for the mistake."

There is hope!

Awesome news dude!
Glad to see that Blizzard realised something went wrong.

I expect we will get an official statement from blizzard over the next couple of days! <3

Maybe 10$ account balance would help this apology…

There was a ban wave that seemed to hit a lot of innocent players this time, for context.
