I guess people who hated voicelines being spammed will rejoice, but this is just another nail in the coffin for me and just further reason not to invest in this game any longer. It’s one small thing that on its own, may not be much, but together with all the other problems, and it feels like they’re trying to do everything they can to just suck the life and fun out of the game. Voiceline spamming was one thing I often got a chuckle out of, even if someone else was doing it. I always loved occasionally using a voiceline but now after using it 3-4 times, it won’t be played on the server any more. Why not just get rid of voicelines in general then?

I guess voice line sales were not doing so hot. What’s next? No Play of the Game because people are not spending on highlight intros? Tsk tsk.

It’s really sad.

So now I can’t even use the voice lines I pay 100 coins each for? Thanks blizzard! Making the game even less fun for everyone seems to be your thing.

Voiceline spamming hurts your teammates more than the enemy team. It’s loud. It’s obnoxious. It covers up actual important sounds like footsteps, ult lines, gunshots, and pings.
I hate it more than anything. Like once or twice, fine. But people will spam Winston’s ‘sorry about that’ or D.Va’s ‘is this ez mode’ for an ENTIRE GAME and as a support player, you are making it so I CANNOT HEAR when our teammates are taking damage. You are hurting our chances to win.
Voiceline spam be gone. The game will be better off for it.

Didn’t we already have the ability to mute individual players? An automatic system to this extent is a bit much. Make it an option if anything instead of just limiting everyone’s usage of their hard earned/bought voicelines.

Blizzard truly is pathetic.
People wonder no one has anything nice to say about them anymore.
Mate what do you want me to say?

Noise violations is a rather universal trait in apartment complexes and dorm situations. The vast majority of people don’t want to have to deal with you noise polluting the common spaces especially at ungodly hours.
To me, it is not a surprise to see Blizzard finally cut out the voiceline spam to further respect the fact that most people don’t want to listen to that stuff and not have to go through and mute every single offender they come across routinely.
It is just another situation of few people do it, but because the <5% can’t behave themselves the only solution is largely a blanket nerf to everyone.
Honestly, I see more noise complaints from older folk than the other way around. Its many times the younger generations that make all the noise and the older people that complain about the noise pollution. Younger generations are usually, “me me me me” and less about common causes. Though at the same time the msot radical change comes from younger generations because older generations are too stuck in traditional ways or too conservative.

So… now you pay for a voiceline ONLY you can hear after 4 times PER GAME?
… could we just get an option to squelch non-match related stuff already then? If you’re willing to nix this paid junk.

Some people are reporting that voiceline spam still works.

I get spamming a single voiceline like “Behind you, ah!” or “Someone call the whambulance” over and over but I like to chain voicelines together with characters like Reinhardt.
What do we have- BEER!
Ooh! Glittering BEER!
Fetch me my BEER!
I can’t do this anymore?

Friend kept doing that during ow1, I couldn’t stop laughing.
Sometimes teammates would stop mid walk from spawn during setup phase, turn around and look at him.

Not that you should have to, but squelching a player suppresses their voice lines (both the character lines and the general “I need healing” lines). Enjoy.

Yeah I don’t know how true this thread is, at least for enemies. I will hear their equippables the entire game if they’re using them.
My favorite to do with that is

Good. Leave along with the voice-line spamming. Toodles.
That being said, being able to mute non-essential voice lines would’ve been the smarter choice. That way people who are focused on winning can do so without the childish spam. Conversely, those with severe head trauma can continue spamming voice lines to their hearts content, with nobody listening.

You could just open up the P menu, right click, then squelch chat to mute all voice chats anyways. If you’re only doing it to annoy others, then it’s not a big deal. I hope you do quit. You can still hear it on your end anyways.
no fun allowed!!! - blizzard
