I was playing Dva on Rialto attack and I was the only tank and we only had one healer. We had a Hanzo and Widow on our team that were getting 2v1ed by the enemy Widow over and over again. Seeing we were losing most of the team fights since we were always missing 2 people (They usually left the team fights to go get the widow) And I was having trouble with dealing with the insane amount of dmg being taken by being focused (Mercy was MVP for keeping me up) I said. “Can one of the snipers change?” I started getting flamed at by my whole team calling me rude and other stuff, getting threatened with reports. We ended up losing because we lacked survivability.
So am I rude? Because honestly, I’m confused and would like to improve my behaviour if I am.

I mean I guess it depends on how you said it but asking someone to switch by itself is not rude

All I said was “Can one of the snipers change?” I guess some people can take it as rude.

This community jumps at the chance to make things seems super toxic at any opportunity. Just report them for false reporting if you care enough, that’s all you can do.

Yea, a ton of people get super defensive in this game. No need to sweat about it.
As long as you didn’t actually say something along the lines of “our snipers suck, can one of them swap to something actually useful” you’ve done no wrong.

Well, it’s a game designed to introduce casual players into the FPS genre. You’re going to run into a lot of people that take offense to non-offensive things like asking a DPS to switch in a game designed around it.
TimTheTatMan summarized it quite well in his stream today. He said “Overwatch? You mean ‘I want to play X hero, play around me’ rage.” .

Thank you guys, I don’t feel crazy anymore.
Depends on the tone you gave them. If you just asked like a normal, reasonable person - then they’re stupid and overreacted.

Was this in Comp? If so, its fine, your team was bad. Just move on.
Was this in QP? If so, dont bother asking for teams that make sense, its a lost cause.

It was QP so I guess the faults on me, I haven’t really played OW in a year. I didn’t really talk much throughout the game but I always spoke up when one of the members of our team did something cool or saved my butt.

You didn’t do anything wrong per se, though I can see why people would have taken offense. It’s not your fault but if you worded it differently or suggested a better alternative, they may have been more compliant or at least a little more understanding.

I had a situation like this yesterday on my alt account. I was playing Brigitte on Volkskya and was spamming that my ult was ready and wanted to group up. No one stopped. They continued to trickle and die. We never captured the 2nd point.
I decide to pop on mic and tell them they need to pay attention to pings and immediately got flamed. They said I was toxic because I wasn’t using my mic! I called them out on their bad plays and they all resolved to report me.
The community is too toxic now. The competitive side of the game is unplayable. No one wants to compromise or work together. The second something goes wrong they start blaming everyone but themselves.
PS: how do you report for false reporting?

Or play Rein and stop the enemies widow from shooting your sniper so they can do the work? I am just saying. It’s true that they can switch but you also can too.
This mentality is just dumb. DPS is the most flexible role on a team. They were getting countered. It’s on them to swap with a teammate or to a different DPS. That’s what DPS should do if they’re getting stomped by the enemy DPS.
Not to have your only tank switch to Rein and sit on high ground for your Widow. Seriously a big waste of playing Rein…

Sadly I do not know how to play Rein, I haven’t really played OW enough to play more that 3-4 heros and even if I was Rein they would of been too far away to help since they stayed way back or ran way past the cart.
Your team sounds like a bunch of crybabies. Don’t worry, you’re fine

Well, they are on a payload map and Dva is an offtank, what is dumb about getting a real meat to grind, there are 5 people who can benefit from it, what can you accomplish as a Dva solo tank except wasting healing resource and Mercy time, their snipers may have a better chance to survive if there is a Mercy healing them you know.
Sadly, in this game you have to know how to play more than just a few to win or having the luck getting one of your teammate who know how to do so.
If you are a dedicated tank, manage the amount of your own and your team damage taken is one of your biggest job.
So it’s okay to solo tank every game? All that frustration just to allow your precious double snipers some help that they have NO intent on paying back or even to their next team?
Doesn’t matter if they can’t play many heroes, you try anyway. Funny thing about balanced comps is the synergy goes a long way.
I’m tried of justifying entitled garbage in QP and comp. People need to start trying to work with each. This is after all a team game.

I have solo tanked as Dva on payload maps in diamond level games this season and past seasons. It’s not hard to do just have to make smart plays. From what they are saying, is the snipers would run up ahead of the payload and die. that’s on the DPS to play smarter and not run off and die when they are not a hero with great escapablity.

It’s sad but it’s true, if you care about winning you sometimes you have to do the dirty work, I am not defending the sniper or blame op but this is how it works. If there is a torb or a sym on your team, you will have to try to work with him not throwing him under a bus.
Anything is winnable, I won 5 dps as a Mercy and I played the entire round without even dying despite people trying to get me so I understand you can make thing work despite who you choose, plus dps on diamonds are probably way better than plat or anything below, every ranks is different.
