Hello, I wanted to ask when the API for overwatch 2 will be released, if at all? Is that something that’s in the works or is OW2 not going to have an API?
For modding? Given their investment in the workshop functionality and what they’ve described in the past about support for user content, I sincerely doubt you’ll ever get external modding capabilities.

No not for mods. Things like overbuff and other stat-tracking apps have been down.
I think that because we have private profiles, they’re useless. Plus the whole GDPR in EU. Data sharing needs to be an option for Europeans to agree to rather than sites tracking data without consent.
Late reply, but this appears to be the only post remotely related to an API request for OW2. I also think this would be a good idea for the OW team to implement. If you compare the API community for WoW, and all the content/outside resources those websites provide, I think OW would benefit greatly from a public API like other Blizzard games. Even if due to private profiles there would be limitations, there is still plenty of non-profile game data that I think many people would be interested in quickly accessing when on the go or at work (for example), when they are unable to log into the game to check. It really does limit the exposure of the game outside of the client without it. Just take the website wowhead for example and all the widgets they have from the APIs provided for WoW. Even something as simple as game mode options, shop choices, and in-game promotional information that would make it easier for individuals to access. I think there are a lot of possibilities, especially with all the new features in OW2, but even small steps would be appreciated by those passionate at developing Apps.
