Apex Legends is dead, long live Overwatch

I remember when Apex Legends was released everyone thought it was the end of Overwatch. I wondered, could this finally be it?

Well, it wasn’t. Overwatch has fought them off and is now reigning supreme once again with 2-2-2 role lock, replays, the workshop and a new character.

We maybe the most toxic gaming community on the internet but we are WINNERS.

That last word you mean WHINERS , right?

Apex kind of self immolated, I don’t think OW did anything to beat it.

Apex kinda shot themselves in their foot with the latest cosmetic items and insults to the playerbase.

Yes, we are the winners and whiners. We have prevailed once more.

When did EA turned Apex servers off?

Metaphorically when they lambasted their free loading player base.

I can’t understand how these two games have any influence on each other. Both are very different.

i hope that acti-blizz wont copy their terrible monetization

I don’t think they will in a hurry. If we want loot boxes all we got to do is play tanks.

and this is exactly what makes me suspicious - they are giving LBoxes left and right now and in game currency - their real buisness model now will come from OWL tokens
this means only paid skins of good quality, rest will be recolors and only event ones might be interesting, but in decreasing numbers

League wants to know your location

Interesting, I hadn’t thought of that. They still need tanks tho so maybe they don’t mind giving the loot boxes to the support and tank mains.

No… it’s WIENERS

16mins in dps queue rn … its def whiners

lol I guess there is some community cross over…

and thats the problem - they abandoned normal LBoxes and ingame currency
it is supposed to incentivze players… its like no cost reward (on blizz part) that they can hand out in big numbers

just like currency in apex - real items of 200% better quality come from horrendeously terrible monetization scheme
i am affraid that activision politbureou might want to replicate that

For now, Overwatch prevailed. However, in business, getting comfortable is certain death.

Here’s my answer to a similar thread from yesterday.

"You’ll be queen, for a time. Then comes another, younger, more beautiful, to cast you down and take all you hold dear.”

Legends will chip away a few players like every major game that comes out. Games rarely die to a single competitor, but more like die to multiple papers cuts from many games.

Or else, industrial titans get toppled by smaller competitors who implement diruptive innovation.

Fortnite, for example, created an entirely new kind of product and it was succesful.

The competitive market is marvelous.
And for us, consumers, it’s way better this way. This way competing businesses need to adapt and earn our loyalty. (Hopefully.)
