Apex Legends has a gay character -at launch- and it felt organic

It puts into stark contrast how silly it is that it took six months from launch for us to learn tracer is a lesbian

And that it took two years after that to learn soldier: 76 is gay

There’s plenty of room for Blizzard to do better.

Edit: None of the reveals for overwatch characters have been in-game. By that standard neither game has had organic reveals, but apex legends didn’t drag their feet about it and claim they were just “waiting for the right time”

I cant find anything about him being gay there? Oh nevermind. The localized version (german, only states “friend”) which could also be a normal buddy. English says boyfriend-

We’ll have to wait and see if this info is at all relevant because if the characters aren’t fleshed out through background lore, it really doesn’t matter.

Did you also know that Bloodhound is non-binary? Apparently so.

However, he only began to understand the value of protecting others when he and his boyfriend stole his father’s motorcycle, took it on a joyride, and got trapped by a deadly mudslide.

This whole argument is so stupid. Why it should be told from the start if the character is gay?? Like. We have no idea about Hanzo’s sexuality for example! If they suddenly revealed in some comic that Hanzo is straight, would that make you upset too?

P.S. I dont know what you believe, but gay people do not really run around the town yelling they are gay.

I’m not entirely sure if “nobody knows their gender” is really appropriate non-binary rep. On the other hand, the only nb rep in overwatch is lynx-17 who is an omnic. Gender non-confirming robots are kind of an easy way out from what I can see, so I’m only giving blizz a golf clap for that one.

It was said in an interview that they’re “non-binary or at least non-specified”. Word for word. And you know what? I’m happy, it’s something. But I would like seeing this info in the profiles, where it’s not hidden.

As for Lynx-17, I don’t consider that rep. Bloodhound barely counts in my eyes because they’re a faceless “mystery box”.

Lynx is a ggdmn robot. Aliens, robots and genderless magical beings don’t really count.

Actually it’s not much different than with soldier. It’s also just told by a described situation that happened in the past. The only difference is that it’s revealed right on from the start instead of somewhere mid way without any hints, so it felt farfetched.

We knew she was Pharah’s mom when she was released. There wasn’t a 2 year delay on that.

Being Pharah’s mom does not tell a thing about her sexuality.

People still care about characters being gay or not?

no yeah i agree completely. And hopefully them being upfront about it means that even if they do reveal anything more about bloodhound, they’ll still remain explicitly nonbinary.

We don’t mess with gibraltar , have anyone seen his other finsher when he lie on you.

I know this off-topic but who’s your main so far? Mine is the poison gas guy.

It only feels organic because it came with the game’s launch.

Why does it matter when or how we find out? The only conspiracy that exists is happening inside your head.
