Anyone noticed the low amount of Mei players recently

I barely see them in game anymore

I mean I’m happy about it but what’s up with it?

Mei is a really hard hero to understand for most people because she isn’t a generic ‘pick her and frag out’ type of hero like cree tracer hanzo or genji. She’s a damage utility hybrid so she’s based around playing with tanks to peel and create opportunities for your frontline

I think she is very good in the right hands but she’s one of the harder heroes to truly understand like sombra or doom

Because you get reported in this game for just breathing. Imagine picking Mei, iceblocking to save yourself from an ult, but you accidentally block your teammate’s: shot, shatter, sleep, Boop etc.

She just got hard and people is saying she’s garbage don’t pick her even though she’s good on the right hand

I am not sure why but I still play Mei and I will continue enjoying it while I can before OW2 where she will most likely be blander.

She requires too much skill to be of use compared to other options. She’s really an obstruction for everyone if she performs one wrong Cryo/Wall/Blizzard. It’s a flaw with allt he niche+utility characters, especially those with low DPS or clunky weapons. She has both~ TL;DR = if her utility isn’t successful or can’t synergize, she’s not picked. Nobody wants to play a clunk-machine like her unless they LIKE the frost/cute aesthetic of Mei. :^(

So we have… Niche character. Double edged kit. Must be played perfectly if the enemy isn’t dumb enough to get 10m or closer to her. If a character has to be played perfectly, using any other DPS is better and more consistent outside of very niche circumstances.

The only times Mei is actually the best pick/doing her job slightly better than someone else can is:

  • Choke Points where there’s only 2 options to go in. Out in the open? Just sit down and let the enemy get that 250DMG Ult charge.
  • Very, very, very cramped places where Blizzard can effectively act as a deterrent or even freeze someone. Out in the open? Pray they are dumb or don’t have shields/cover so maybe MB2 might hit them; at this point playing any other ranged-ish DPS is better oops.
  • 1v1 vs someone with no cooldowns and they’re reloading. Anyone can win this, but Mei can get the guaranteed kill even with poor aim thanks to MB1. Yay for her!
  • Group with no Shield vs Mei with Shield and they are absolutely forced to go into melee range so Mei can actually use her 10m slow beam. However, she’s technically tied with Symmetra in this case. If there’s a Shield, Symmetra beats Mei tho, oopsie??? Sym beats someone??? OH MY!!!
  • Stomp noobs and make them mad because they play the game like COD instead of a team game. Symmetra/Pharah can also do this. But Mei does it best thanks to MB1’s slow slide to elimination (instead of outright murdering)~ How useful for her overall viability, right? :^)

I hope she gets nerfed further. She can self-heal, temporarily become invincible, summon barricades, freeze enemies, and attack from long distance. She really doesn’t need 250 health.

Why would you want her nerfed more when she is rarely seen and is not over performing anywhere on ladder?

Why do you want Mei to be in games?

She ruins tanking and everything for every other role.

No thank you.

I like to play her, but its rare the team capitalizes on moments where I wall off the other team’s players and leave 1-2 defenseless. Yet they magically survive.

They reduced her ability to freeze people, when I play her now it takes so long to actually get someone iceblocked that you’re out of ammo and you can’t icicle them in the head, so you have to reload, so they unfreeze and kill you while you’re reloading - between that and ice wall being a lot more destroyable, she just doesn’t have the right value levels anymore.

Mei used to be scary to be around, but now not so much.

How does Mei do that? I get walling off tanks but wall can be broken if the team bothered to shoot 1 pillar. Her freeze is unreliable and currently her icicle is more reliable. Her freeze times gives the enemy plenty of time for escaping or counter plays.

Plus Mei’s ultimate is very forgiving by allowing most heroes to escape before freezing. She also has a slow firing icicle that can be exploited.

Icicle is way too inconsistent compared to other projectile choices

It feels like the only reason to pick her is when there’s a troublesome hog or hammy

Yes… very “forgiving.”

She can literally freeze someone in the Blizzard and make them not touch there keyboard for 5 seconds.

Her freeze doesn’t give you any time to escape. It’s 10 meters.

You can LITERALLY wall up, and then make someone FORCE to stand there because there’s no where for you to go. Also, when your freezing someone your team is most likely surrounding you which = a free kill.

Mei literally ruins this game.

Any hero with mobility ability or cc can escape the freeze. It takes 1.5 seconds to freeze a target.

Do you know how ridiculous you sound.

There’s something called, “balance.” Mei CANT have mobility because of her STRONG CC.

And right now, the meta isn’t what mei can play into. It’s Double shield.

Mei is a RUSH HERO character. That’s why she’s paired with Lucio!

What I am not asking for mobility for Mei please read again.

1.5 seconds for a stun that makes you unmovable, and it’s not on a cooldown.

Yes that is how stuns work and within 1.5 seconds some heroes can escape or counter cc Mei.

anyone would rather play powerful and impactful characters than do double the work for not even half the value, the sad truth; the playerbase was higher when she was good though
