These are some great examples of lighter baroque composition! The number of strings sounds very plentiful, but the tone is totally different! I’ve just finished listening to both of these pieces. Good chill music!
Well, the reason I said Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (all 3 movements), is most people will recognize the 1st movement, it’s been used a lot for various things. The 2nd Movement steps it up just a bit with a slightly lighthearted stretch, then the 3rd kicks in and Beethoven shows you just what a Deaf man is capable of.
Other than that, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is another great 42 minute Brain massage, again with parts of each season that a new comer to Classical will recognize. Or if you want to get into the Fantastical, Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no.2 This song, another you might recognize, has been sampled in Looney Toons, Tom&Jerry, and was a Duet by Donald and Daffy in Who framed Roger Rabbit, and not one rendition does the real song any justice.
Lastly, I highly suggest checking out a CD “Classical for those that Hate Classical” you’ll find out, you’ve probably have heard more than you thought you have.
I’ve always loved Gustav Holst’s “The Planets”. Each movement is titled for a different planet. You’ve probably heard Mars in a few movies before. It’s very aggressive. Jupiter is my favorite. Also, I played the horn solo for Venus in a show once and it was one of my favorite things I’ve played.
Hall of the Mountain King by Greig is my tidy up time music at school. It’s used by Alton Towers Theme Parks in the UK and features in the Trolls movie.
When I first played it I thought it would be some nice soft piece. Maybe reminiscent of flowers in bloom.
Instead it sounds like Pan himself broke into your house, drank all your booze, defecated on your bed, and made off with your girlfriend, your dog, and your last bag of Doritos.
