I’ve been using the Razer Deathadder for years, gone through three of them. After a year or so they all seem to begin having clicky issues in one way or another, be it ghost clicks or not registering clicks at all.
I blame the fact I use them all the time more than I blame Razer, really I probably overwork my peripherals. My current issue is that my left click sometimes doesn’t register, sometimes registers as a double click, or if I am holding it down to drag/drop things or something similar, sometimes it will randomly ‘release’ (a problem which I am sure some men here are familiar with).
Anyway, on top of the issue with the clicking is that the Deathadder is a big mouse and I am a small-handed female, which means the mouse actually takes up the entirety of my hand and I’m pretty sure this additionally causes drag from my wrist on the mousepad. So my boyfriend just ordered me another mouse, but with little to no consultation he ordered me the Razer Viper Mini (ostensibly because of my small hands and because I have a small desk and use claw grip), which I’ve no experience with. So I was wondering if anyone here has used the Viper or Viper Mini and can give me some feedback on its performance in FPS games and Overwatch in particular.
It’s fine. As most gaming mice nowadays. If it fits your grip well, it’s good.
Me and my girlfriend, both has small hands. She used to like the Deathadder mini that I gave her and now she’s using my gpx.
My main mouse is hati s wireless.
Performance wise. Optical mouse is being overkill for years now. Shape is the only thing you should worry.
Viper mini has the plus of using optical switches, which is immune to double click. But it can break as anything can really. Fortunately it’s very easy to change the switches since it’s hotwappable.
You can also change the switches on your old mice. It’s an quite easy soldering job. Most people dislike the tactical feeling of optical switches. So mechanical is still a thing, and there’s tons of then on the market.

Well, first of all, would highly recommend vacuuming your mouse out. It might help with your clicking issue. Viper is OK, but as the previous post said, shape is the most important. So true to get a feel of the new mouse, see if you can get used to it.

I did that, AND I used an electric air duster, if anything it made the problem worse.
Boyfriend already ordered the mouse, I was just hoping for some feedback on it before it gets here so I’d have an idea what to expect.
I just reached my breaking point the other day when I was face-to-face with a 76 and went to fire at him to kill him as he was at like 80 hp… and when I pressed the button nothing happened. I just stared down the barrel of his gun as he very casually lifted it and put a helix rocket into my jetpack

Ah okay yeah then it’s definitely just overused. Viper’s a fine mouse, like all other Razer products. Just make sure the grip is good for your hand and it’s A-OK.
My first DeathAdder was the Overwatch edition one with the logo and colors and such, I loved it. So… my lower thumb button is my jump button. I was, at the time, playing mostly Lucio, and as DPS I’ve always been a Pharah one-trick/near one trick so I’m ALWAYS pressing the thumb button.
So one day it just… pressed in and never popped back out lmao. I swapped to a SteelSeries mouse for a bit then back to a DeathAdder when the middle mouse button/scroll wheel on the SteelSeries stopped responding (my ‘shift’ ability in Overwatch is… on my middle mouse button) unless I MASHED IT SUPER HARD… and now I’m having the ghost click/phantom click/release issue with THIS DeathAdder.
I remember back when things were built to last and I used the same Logitech mouse for like ten years lmao. Now I’m replacing them every year and a half or so. I guess it makes sense, it says rated for five million clicks, but I mean I suppose in the case of, for example, the thumb button, since I have a jumping problem (lol) if I jump 100 times per game it adds up!

I miss my old DA. Don’t know about the viper but my Logitech pro was the best choice I ever made. All in all I think what other people have said matters most, if it fits your shots hit
I’m about 99 percent convinced that my boyfriend wanted to get me the Viper mini instead of the DeathAdder mini because the main character in his novels is nicknamed Viper
I just haven’t decided if I want to call him out on it when he calls me from work in an hour or not lol.
I’m seeing better scores for the viper and the viper sounds like it will suit you better

Yeah, probably, I play much better with a full claw grip due to my hand size and desk size combined but the Deathadder is so large that I have to palm it.
I mean look at this monster lmao:

The most important thing is your grip and how mouse will fit into your hand. So I highly recommend going to store IRL and try them first.
Also, if you want to buy Razer Viper 8khz then you need very good CPU, as high polling rate increases CPU load and Overwatch is already very CPU dependant
My PC isn’t an issue, I’m pretty sure. Running an i7-10700F/2.90GHz
I have small hands (wear a small/medium surgical glove) and primarily use claw grip since I have a small desk and am an old-school gamer on top of it.
I despised the Viper with the fury of a thousand suns. Unlike the G Pro, another ambidextrous mouse, the buttons on the right hand side of the Viper aren’t removable. You can disable them, but I was accidentally clicking them at all times with the slightest movements of my hand. It was infuriating.
I got a Glorious Model-O Wireless instead and love it. The G Pro is nice too but very fragile. Haven’t used the Superlight but it’s supposed to be a big improvement.
Nope, I’m using a Logitech MX518 Legendary
No company is immune to qc issues but the viper mini is one of the most beloved mice on r/mousereview and an easy budget recommendation. The one design flaw it has is it’s high liftoff distance, not sure if that matters to you.
Also, viper 8k/v2 pro/ultimate has a completely different shape because you gotta have a poorly named lineup for no reason in 2022.

Not really, I very rarely lift my mouse because of the small mousepad/claw aim, so I play on a medium sensitivity (9.40 right now) and have very little reason to be concerned with it. My mouse generally stays in the same small circle zone on the pad lol.
