Anyone else notice flex is kinda weird when in a group?

Like I was in a full stack today, all 5 of us were queueing flex, but somehow I get support 6 times in a row. Not the only time I’ve noticed this either. It seems like even when you’re just in a duo if it’s crossplay it really likes to keep the console player on tank for some reason. Just a minor annoyance I guess

I feel like this happens because you have different skill between different roles. I’m a really good tank compared to my other roles so depending on the group I’ll either always get it or never get it.

That has about a 4.1% chance of happening (assuming 40% chance to get it each time), which while low is far from impossible, especially in the face of the sample size OW’s playerbase is able to crank out. It’s basically bound to happen at least once per day.

This doesn’t really work. There are multiple other things at play here. OP’s support rank is probably right about where the most populated lobbies are and you might find that having OP in a support slot makes finding games quicker than having them in a different role.

What I’m trying to say is that the probability of getting each role as flex is in no way equal and your rank on each role, as well as everyone else’s rank on each role on your team and on the enemy team heavily affects which role you get.

Read this again. The exact odds don’t matter, the point is it’s not exactly rare to have it happen to someone each day. And even if the exact odds matter, 40% is going to be close to the actual number anyway. The playerbase is more than large enough to allow for the law of averages to take effect.

That’s my entire point. And it’s probably because the likelihood is nowhere near even due to the fact that your role is affected by the rank range of 9 others players on each of their roles.

Not to mention your are more than likely only going to get matched against other 5 stacks which will even further affect/restrict your probability of getting specific roles.
