Sad that it’s come to this rly.
I started REALLY getting playtime during Season 4-5 to about… 13 or so. The game was extremely fun and chaotic, with minor toxicity and characters that were just broken. I enjoyed it. That’s comp at least.
QP was entertaining, and a safe space to practice the mechanics of the heroes.
Arcade’s arcade, can’t rly say much about it.
Now it feels… tiresome.
Comp is just sitting around simulator 2020, with vast quantities of toxicity (notably more than the seasons prior to 2-2-2) and gameplay that feels vastly underpowered, especially on tank.
QP is just comp without the pressure. It’s not even a safe space to practice now, as the queue times are just so painfully long that it’s not worth waiting.
Arcade’s actually gotten better, but not enough sadly. Whilst the gamemodes on arcade are fun (Brig Zombie Survival is a favourite of mine), the lack of a map editor kinda sets the boundaries of the workshop.
I kinda wish that Blizzard would just take the game two steps back and work from there. I was initially really excited for role queue, but… feels as if the downsides vastly outweigh the positives.

I do feel the same. I love talking about it, watching it, thinking about it, buying merch… but when it comes to getting into a game I’m gonna say about 70% of the time by the time the game loads I’m regretting it and my first thought it ‘I’m wasting my life’.
I think this is a combination of: playing for almost 4 years, developer updates coming at the speed of a disabled slug, no balance, matchmaking issues like having significantly lower ranked players on the team because their mates are trying to boost, the release of OW2 when they can’t be bothered to fix the first, the real possibility of the game being shut down after OW2 release (I think it’s more like a 98% shot they’ll shut it down), poor quality merch, constant bugs like 0 footsteps or animation sounds randomly dying in the middle of the match, play 4 games and it starts stuttering and lagging without any issues with my PC and internet, toxicity, flaming, support hate, homophobia/transphobia, racism, people abusing the voice chat, entitled DPS players, cheaters, smurfs, developers refusing to rebalanced/bugg/nerf heroes that need it sooner than 9 months down the line, map pools (hate them) and now upcoming hero pools, same old events on repeated with even smaller pools of loot every time, lazy new skins, no new skins/loot throughout the year outside events, no new maps coming, no new heroes coming for longer and longer periods

Yeah that’s a proper summary of the faults.
Good lord that’s a list.

Actual new gameplay content is just too slow and too little. And with the limited map pools, it just makes it even boring and repetitive.

Devs are too busy fighting meta.

Content such as hero releases, new maps, cinematics, and events (where there are more than just 4 legendaries) all breathe life into this game (even if temporarily) and we don’t really/barely get any of those anymore.

Not bored, love it. It’s like going down the pub with my mates, without going down the pub with my mates. Best bit of my day.

Whom could have predicted having people sit in queues for 15 min would raise their expectations of their teammates performance huh? I mean it most have been as unforeseeable as the queues themselves.
Like legit everyone knew people would just go around and throw on their off roles, especially when they have separate values. It is like spending someones else money, you do not care.
yupp, those are the big ones missing. Conveniently their lack of was explained away with “we are working on OW2”. Sadly that does not really help anyone, especially when everything been recycled for 2+ years. As someone mentioned the limited map pool does not help either when its on a 3 months cycle, like whose idea was that even? It is not what the community asked for one bit, weekly rotations, or some sort of voting system, or straight up pick and chose where the suggestions given. Not a stale pool for a whole season. Anyone with a brain would understand that is a bad idea, it is essentially just cutting content that people may actually like for 3 months.

Supposedly, when 2-2-2 first released, reducing toxicity was one of the big selling points of introducing it into comp and qp.
However… now that queue times are so dreadful, as stated, doesn’t really surprise me now.
Perfect summary.

Balance is slow and often disappointing, events have been rehashed for 3 years now, and we’re slowly losing content over time (hero releases, skins in events, etc), role queue adding a 6-10 min timer for DPS…
It just feels like the game doesn’t have…passion I want to say. Obviously that might change with OW2, but currently the game feels like a husk right now.

Every game gets old after a while so it’s not entirely Overwatch’s fault…
While you wait is good, loving it!
(Death match being one of my favourite mode certainly helps)
Also the team focus a lot on team balance (i.e. role queue) but I have a feeling that something is wrong about match making and SR.
It often feels either too easy or too hard, and rarely really even. And I have a vague feeling this might have worsen…
And while most people probably enjoy an easy win… the overall health of the game would be better with more even matches… (instead of stomp either way)
As an example, I lost 400 SR and I am still crushed in raw aim by some enemy DPS player, but not all… obviously we should not be lumped at the same SR though…

Bored of overwatch because of questionable balance changes. Like when is hanzo/mei/widow/doom getting properly balanced? Now we gonna get that hero pool too and I don’t have the wish to play the game anymore.

Reading threads on the Warcraft 3 forums is much more exciting than playing Overwatch. I can highly recommend it.

It only gets quite booring if my team gets smoked, and the Hero I want to play is Hard Countered and my other hero is picked already by a (Sorry but i mean it) noob. haha
Knowing that we get changes soon, is currently enough to make me patient.
But sure i would take new stuff earlier anytime.

For sure. When I watch Rapida or FreshNuts or some streamer I get really hyped about jumping into the game but when I do it suddenly feels like a struggle. There are 2 more notable reasons to this: The balance has been actually horrible for a very long time which has made playing the game quite boring from flex stand point and this issue is highlighted by players picking horrible heroes which lose always to a proper comp when the teams are equal. Just players switching heroes has improved games from being spawn camped into actually touching and playing the game on the objective which is just absurd. Hero picks shouldn’t matter that much, but the way they’ve handled balancing so poorly not on the meta side, but on the other side with changes like Torb nerfs, Mercy going to 50hps, Pharah nerfs and so on making a lot of heroes F-tier in most scenarios is the worst part about the whole balancing process

I miss Soldier, D.Va, and Zenyatta being playable.
I miss the time when diving/flanking a sniper resulted in the sniper dying instead of the diver/flanker.
I miss the time when Doomfist did not exist.
I miss 3v3 mode always being available instead of constantly disappearing in favor of some gimmick mode.
I miss when tanks weren’t made of cardboard dust.

I was looking for something new but found nothing. They even said in the last dev update that they will now change things and do a lot of other stuff. Last year was boring but this year could be great even if OW2 comes out 2021.
Dear God… Reading people being surprised that a game is just aging for them and have no clue how that’s a concept. People just naturally get bored over time.
Then seeing someone strong-arming about content and devs being distracted with balance.
Nevermind we know that OW2 has been in the works and now more updates are rolling in because people have been demanding them.

Maybe, but new hero releases always restore my interest in the game.

Life’s been doing this to you since you grew bored of your green stuffed animal at 2 and moved onto the blue one. :). It’s how it works.
For me personally this is only the 4th game in my 30+ years of gaming that I’ve played continually for years. WoW, EVE, TF and TF2. I still love it and role que and hero pools helped give it a much needed jolt.
