Anyone else have a shameful setup because it's the only way you can play?

So I play on an Acer Aspire 5 on doodoo graphics, with a laptop… Tray?? my friend gave me, with a little mousepad built in. I don’t have a desk, so I just play on my bed. My mouse is pretty neat, I got a Logitech G602 for like 65% off, and that is the best piece of equipment I own (previous mouse wasn’t even for gaming, it was an ancient wireless Logitech something)

I really love Overwatch, I played for a few years on Xbox (still do) but I never really had a computer until I started college and needed a laptop. I don’t think the way I play is impacting me too much, I still get 55-65 FPS on a good day and I know everything is pretty suboptimal to most people but I still feel like I can contribute a lot in my games for someone who’s never played an FPS on PC before.

I guess the question is, in the long run, how much will I be held back by not having an actual PC as I get better at playing with PC controls? I know very little about computers, and don’t have the money or know-how to build one. Will I reach a sort of limit at some point where I just won’t be able to keep up with my opponents? And when would I reach said limit if there is one?

Please…

I am playing Overwatch on a $750 Dell Inspiron 7000 Gaming laptop that I hooked into a 75hz monitor I got for cheap at Walmart with a $30 Reddragon Mechanical keyboard and my Razer mouse I got for cheap.

You aren’t the only one with a meme setup XD

i have a lenovo flex 4 laptop that uh… hasn’t “flexed” in quite a while… i haven’t even closed it in ages bc it physically is falling apart, the plastic enclosure has busted in small places over time and so it’s better not to touch it.

my desk is small, but i give myself as much mouse space as possible. i use an upside-down risk game board as a mouse pad. then my laptop sits above the desk drawers, so to focus on the screen i sit in my uncomfortable metal chair and straddle the drawers

oh yeah, and my mouse. i got some generic brand really cheap on ebay. it’s currently dying and will randomly freeze and stop working midgame for a second or two at a time. it gets me killed quite a bit and is very frustrating, but i am dealing with it bc what am i about to do? spend money? get a fancy “good mouse” like some kind of millionaire?

anyways, to answer your question, from what ppl have told me, your setup does not make much of a difference unless you are in higher ranks. obviously more frames makes tracking easier. and the biggest one is a lot of space to move your mouse around so you can have a reasonably low sensitivity and still be able to move. but if you just want to play casually, it’s not worth it. and if you’re absolute trash at tracking at 60 fps, you likely won’t become suddenly good if u get a 144hz monitor and dedicate everything to max fps. and most important skills can be nearly infinitely improved no matter your setup
