Anyone else getting sound issues?

Anyone else still getting really poor sound balancing issues with this game?

We’re talking ‘completely silent pharah’s directly behind you’ levels of bad.

I’ve checked my headphones, it ain’t that. Is this a known issue?

Yeah the game always has had issues with sound, and it’s bugged more often than not

But for the Pharah example? part of it is the buggy audio and part of it is the fact that she’s still way too quiet for no reason

It cracks me up they made such a huge deal about sound design in OW2 when there’s issues like this still going on from release.

The sounds themselves are fine (when you can hear them.) But the balance is just completely off. I also feel it’s worse on maps where there’s a lot of ‘switching’ between interiors and exteriors.

OW1’s sound was so good you could turn, look up and start landing shots on someone just by hearing their footsteps.

OW2 is not OW1.

This. OW1 sound was very directional. OW2 is not. They made weapons less distinct (in favor of “realism” in a game with a hamster and a gorilla), but I’ve gotten used to that. Distinct from the issue of sounds not sounding at all, or being drowned out by something less important (cough Mauga cough), there is still the problem of directionality. I think they tried to make audio more “realistic” (in a game with a Hamster and a Gorilla) by making it echo-y, and all that really did was ruin a cue that good players could use to their advantage over bad players.
