Even people in my team sometimes are toxic towards me for playing Sombra. Never had this much abuse hurled at me for playing Sombra probably since shortly after her release. But this time for different reasons lol. I’ve been playing Sombra for years. It’s not my fault she’s really good now. People should save their criticism for blizzard rather than players who simply play a certain hero.
Blizzard doesn’t listen so players take their frustrations out on each other.
Do what I do, mute the chat and block the game messages. I have more fun playing this way, its not toxic and you can easily move on from a loss
People really hate the hero, and understandably so, but…
Still, people shouldnt be doing this. Instead…
They should be doing this. Blizzard should’ve pushed that leaked balance patch to live on the 25th, with some Sojourn nerfs tacked on as well.
im never unblocking chat, you lost your chatting privledges w/me.
I don’t blame them… I don’t do it myself, but I can’t say it doesn’t make my blood boil when I’m playing the weakest tank in the game and someone feels the need to invalidate my entire hero
Nah, it’s always been the same reason: your kit is taking away abilities from other characters (for a certain amount of time). The game is built upon plays and counterplays, the reason Sombra is generally hated is because she disables the counterplay.
Sombra is the weird uncle taking some kid’s ice cream away, throwing it on the ground and spitting on it.
Only sociopaths like Sombra’s mechanics.
(Don’t get me wrong: I am against toxicity 100% and don’t insult people in-game. I however strongly sympathize with those that do rather then the sombra playerbase.)
Yes a friend of mine is a sombra one trick and without fail he’s both the immediate scapegoat in his games, and the one getting flamed for playing meta by the enemy team lol
Don’t know what to say except Blizzard should focus on a patch sooner then later. Mute voice and text chat and play the hero that you have fun with.
With how difficult it is to have an impact with Doom, when a player sees you do well and decides to switch to Sombra and counter your exceptionally difficult work with the most low-effort, effective method of disabling a hero in the game, with zero counterplay… it’s infuriating.
Chain-hacking from stealth is just terrible.
You do realize that was fake right?
I have had more time on Sombra than any other DPS hero, I have for years. When playing as her, you learn quickly to mute and/or ignore people, and just carry the game in spite of what your team says. Set up plays, do your callouts, ignore the kids who whine in chat or in comms, and win games. There are many times when I’ve muted most of the team in voice, and still do callouts. Them not liking sombra is their problem, not mine.
The new ping system is awesome. I’ve replaced the talk button with the ping. You’re not very likely to have teammates on comms anyway and if you still can’t take cues from that big roadsign in the middle of the street, that’s not my problem.
I’ve always been on comms in OW1 regardless of whether there are people on it or not.
It’s really just necessary.
For OW2, i can finally disconnect the comms.
My only suggestion is that they allow the ping button to bind on keys already assigned so we can ping and hack at the same time.
only if you dont get picks!
how about chain hacking from stealth and doom getting javlin stunned, slept, discord, hacked and hooked during his “please dont dps me only stun me” block?
Sadly I tend to get abuse for playing any hero regardless of teams. It tends to be more common for meta picks.
However if its my team when I am playing Sombra, I swap to Sym for lolz. They did tell me to swap after all.
If the enemy team responds with “[hero] i hate you”. I respond with “I love you too”, often gets a good chuckle out of the players.
Back in overwatch 1 there was someone who called me an anti gay slur and told me they hope I die of Covid. I reported them and got a message from Blizzard saying that action was taken on one or more violating accounts. If people are toxic enough you can report them.
Block and report and problem is solved.
Yes but you can at least avoid the others or bait cooldowns.
You literally cannot avoid hack because she is invisible.
as a Genji main, I’d understand getting mad at you for playing Sombra, but not ur own team.
I got camped by a Sombra in a certain game where I killed her while she was Widow and she chain-hacked me all game long and just hunted me and won cause the hero is busted.
I have lost the last bits of respect I had for the Sombra community with that one, since I’m very certain that wasn’t the only player doing that exact thing cause they suck at the game.
