Main reason I want to get it (instead of the other handhelds) is because of the HDR display which Overwatch should support right?
No, if I’m gonna play on PC I’d rather use a PC
Got one. Not for OW.
Not OLED but already had the Steam Deck since the start of the year. Is there that much of a difference between regular and OLED for any screen like TVs, monitors etc?
I am tempted to get a Steam deck for this christmas admittedly, but not for OW2. Heard nothing but good things about it, and I’m bored with my Switch after having it a good while
If you already have Steam deck it really isn’t worth upgrading. It is more like for those who don’t have one yet.
Is OW2 SD certified? Is it even natively playable? Or would you have to stream it?
I cannot really fathom buying a device to stream a shooter game over wifi and play on a controller, but you do you. I’d rather just buy a nice HDR/OLED monitor for my computer.
This is just my opinion, but I find OLED displays to be sooooo much nicer than traditional LCD panels. They are absolutely gorgeous. Watching HDR movies on my TV is like a night and day difference between anything I’ve used before.
On a desktop PC, OLED monitors are great, but do come with the risk of burn-in due to the static content, so unless you have money to burn on luxuries I would probably steer clear of that realm. On something like a steam deck though, it should be fine since the content is primarily games with lots of dynamic content. I haven’t heard of any issues on devices like that.
That said, if you already have a steam deck, I definitely wouldn’t bother upgrading to a new one solely for the OLED display. If it also had generational hardware upgrades (e.g. better CPU/GPU) then it’d probably be worth it. But the same hardware except for the screen… not so much. OLEDs are amazing, but not “rebuy the exact same device” amazing.
From the Steam website:
The hardware is very much not “the same”…
There are something like 20 separate upgrades!
The list of things that got upgraded is too long for me to recall…
But the Wi-Fi chip got a nice update as well which should make it great for cloud game streaming!
I got a Steam deck but Im never going to play Ow 2 on it.
I’m usually doing turn based or strategy games on SD
By that statement I meant the performance. It has hardware improvements across the board, but it is expected that there is no actual uplift in game performance.
Most normal people would not upgrade a device just for nominal efficiency improvements.
Thanks for clarifying. This actually surprises me a bit, ngl.
i dont feel the reason to when i have a laptop
I use controller when I choose a hero that doesn’t need too much precise aiming.
My case, controller is much more better in terms of movement compared to keyboard.
Back to the topic, Nope not gonna buy that just for OW2.
No, but you might find this interesting.
I think you can get banned for that, but I’m not positive. Be careful!
i want one to play stardew valley tbh…
I barely play my switch, why would I want a slightly better switch?
You have to get the six months package for that and that’s just too much for me with how little I game nowadays!
Also I already have game pass ultimate till the end of next year!
And since I have access to multiple other cloud gaming platforms I haven’t felt the need to get GFN Ultimate just yet…
