Anyone else find wall climbing kind of iffy?

Its very weird to me idk why. It feels very inconsistent.

Yeah same, feels off compared to OW1. Not sure what they did but I fully agree.

I never really played Hanzo or Genji and yet now, after a lot of time on Kiriko, I have to ask… how do you Genji/Hanzo mains deal with so much jank? I feel like the tiniest pebble on a wall can mess me up

Yes, there definitely seems to be some form of inconsistency, and there is no better example of this on the Route 66 Genji Parkour custom game. I’ve been speedrunning it for over a month now, and there are times when the wall climb just doesn’t function as intended for whatever reason.

However, there has to be something going on in order to make this happen, and I hope one day someone will actually do some digging in order to figure out why.

Its the maps, blizzard has added so much clutter and weird symmetry on their maps that it feels bad to wall climb. I cant tell you how many times I’ve died because I couldn’t escape and my hero suddenly stopped wall climbing due to a pebble on the wall.

This. Some maps are fine, others are basically impossible. Lucio’s wall ride has the same issue.

My personal favourite is seeing a wall and thinking you can climb/ride on it, only for an invisible wall to get in the way and cause you to fall to your death. Looking at you, Ilios Ruins.

Ive had much less issues with wall ride than wall climbing. Though the issues still remain.

I thought i was the only one. I was struggling to climb the walls pretty often that it almost often gets me killed.

Anyone who doesn’t agree needs to play Apex for 10 minutes in the training range. I have 1/10th the time in Apex that I do in OW yet I can wall climb in that game 100% of the time everytime, meanwhile in this game 90% of the time my character doesn’t climb or does 2 steps and gives up.

Genji has double jump and hanzo has lunge. That’s how you get over the inconsistency, tho I have got used to (and memorized) where can and cannot be climbed. Junkertown 2nd point highground window and gates are 2 of the most annoying spots.

“The story so far: in the beginning, the map designers prioritized form over function. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

They are based on some internal timers and cooldowns that players aren’t aware of and/or can’t tell when they’re triggered. Which is what causes the inconsistencies. They’re pretty buggy.

You just memorize where you can climb and where you cant

Many places you cant climb cause zero logic and climb doesn’t work well

There is a hidden meter that instantly resets when you touch ground

Right, but often times there are players that attempt to wall climb but aren’t able to do it because there’s no indication that the meter was used previously or that the wall climb is locked in a cooldown.
