Anyone else feels like OW2 style feels cheap?

OW2 is not OW1. And OW2 seems messed, bad and most importantly cheap. I don’t know how to describe the exact feeling. OW1 looked like if a Pixar made a game. OW2 seems like a chinese copy on mobile phones with somewhat better graphics. I know it is F2P but look at these prices.

The skins just look worse than they looked in OW1. Less creative, more trashy. Considering how expensive it all is it’s just kinda rejecting. I don’t even own PC to play it, but I don’t think I would play anyways. It is not the same game I loved.

Presumably the new base skins have to look ‘cheap’ so people feel ashamed for playing in them and buy the stuff that looks good from the store.

EDM D.Va? Hinotori Kiriko? Cyber Demon Genji???

I don’t see what you’re seeing tbh. I suspect your (valid) opinion of the prices is influencing your opinion of the skins themselves.

Nah the EDM skin has a cool design, but it the solid colours kinda make it look cheap. When I first saw it I was amazed by it, but then after seeing the model in streamer BP reviews I didn’t find it as great. It still is good though.

Aside from the special audio, the DVA skin doesn’t look any different quality wise from an OW1 DVA skin. It has a better theme, but nothing in it makes me go ‘wow new engine’

I personally think though that the new zen OWL skin has the most amount of detail of any skin so far, although I haven’t looked at it that much. But from what I remember there were many small intricate details on it.

I do think there were many visual downgrades. The main downgrade are the concept art ‘drawing’ icons used. The OW1s were perfect. They were unique in style, matched eachother and captured personality of heroes well. The OW2 ones are all over the place, some aren’t of the same quality, and half of them look straightup traces of the 3d character portraits you have ingame (because they are), also brigs hair isn’t even the same colour. Some of their eyes look crooked too. With that being said, I think Symmetra’s was leagues above the rest, and it would’ve been nice to have them to that standard.

Kiriko doesn’t look like she belongs to overwatch world anyways tbh. But anyways you got 3 skins out of several that look better with one ultra expensive mythic one (which to me is not much better overall than facechanger sombra). With OW1 every event had good creative skin themes that were just fine. Here it seems forced just for the premiere of OW2.

I wouldn’t hunt for any of these if they were in event lootboxes tbh

The comment I was replying to said that the skins look “worse” than OW1 skins, so… yeah.

I can’t relate to that criticism either.

Those were just 3 examples I chose. Many of the skins look superb. Of course there are some not great ones, but that’s no different to current OW either.

I mean anyone could argue that, but that would be subjective opinion. I do think it doesn’t look better than the OWL dva skin, so that would make it ‘worse’ but subjectively.

Well there is your first mistake.

Correct, which is why I said as much.

That’d be valorant for me. Valorant will never not look like a chinese made mobile game.

But yeah, since there are gonna be way more skins due to new monetization schemes, expect lots of weirdo skins.

If you don’t own a pc to play it nor anything while giving even your opinion just to be a doomer ?:hatched_chick:

That’s not limited to the skins. Remember when everyone was excited for the ‘new engine’? Then we all played the beta and kind of collectively went “huh, it’s the same… Moving on!”

With other words they look like fotnite skins.

It’s not like it was any secret that the engine upgrades were mostly for the PVE lol. Come back when the new Junkenstein mode comes out

I loved this game. Just that. To me it was something completly incredible when they released it. So complex hero shooter. With Pixar art style. And the incredible compelling lore.

The frenchise is just one of a kind and very well done. They took it away from me even thos it was not needed to change engine IMO.

It looks better now and the art style is the exact same :disappointed_relieved: you’re just an other " it was better before! " person that refuse every improvement.

I never even played Fortnite and probably won’t but one thing i gotta give them is they have a lot of cool skin themes from movies and stuff. Who wouldn’t like to play a shooter as John Wick or Deadpool?

Eh, I come from a time when ‘new engine’ meant significant upgrades in basically every area. The beta fell short of the benchmark.

Well in fairness, it’s not a new engine. It’s an upgraded one. Upgraded mainly to better accommodate the PVE.

I don’t know. To me it is a bit more detailed and with some light effects.
the point is it wasn’t needed for the original cartoon style.

Also If they changed engine for the better looks of the overall graphics I would expect much much more after 6 years of gaming developtment tbh.
