Over the last few days, every single Archives teaser is being harshly criticized because they don’t cater to every single individuals ideas. We learn that we are getting another entirely new PvE mode, and it gets horribly insulted because they picked characters important to the story.
Then the skin reveals start, and they are stiff people have begged for (Talon Baptiste and Scientist Moira) and yet you people still flip out and call them lazy because it doesn’t look exactly like the outfits in their sprays or whatever.
I’m honestly furious with the way you people are treating the developers. They clearly worked hard to please us all and almost 80% of the posts are negative. Go play a different game if you aren’t happy, people like me who genuinely like this stuff would rather see you all stop posting entirely.

After 3 years here, i am used to stupidety and ungratful posts.
But if i need to chose a point wher i hated the forum the most, it woud be the pink mercy story.
How in the world is it okay to say that a skin for charity is overpriced and shoud be given out for free or at a discount becours you cant pay 15 bucks…

The forums are where people go to voice their dissatisfaction, disappointment, and anger. It’s like this in every game, site, and appliance.

I’ll admit, it is kinda bumming me out that every time there was a skin reveal I saw mostly negative responses towards them, and I don’t understand, they’re all great skins, heck for the one just released, I saw people asking for exactly that on Reddit!

Well they could start by not spoiling everything the week before the lackluster event is released. Like 5 awful skins and a couple rubbish voicelines are anything to really tease us over. Instead of wasting all their resources trying to hype something that’s going to disappoint us anyway they should spend their time improving the community by actually giving them something that wasn’t intended to pucker up to the lower half of select pro players.

Yes, I am disappointed. No, I am not surprised. Internet forums are a hot bed of misery, and video game forums all the more so.
This is normal, sad to say lol.
They need to reveal some content to get people interested, as for lackluster, if you truly feel that the Archives events are lackluster, I’d suggest finding another game to play as that’s as good as it’s going to get here, which is great BTW.

They don’t need to reveal a thing. We know the dates of the event, we know it’s the same thing same time every year, only difference is the skins and other loots.
It’s like Christmas. How much fun is Christmas gift unwrapping when you know each and every present before you get to it? Why even bother wrapping or waiting until the 25th for surprise gifts? Might as well open everything on the 18th because mommy and daddy couldn’t keep their mouths shut.

I am not surprised by the forums.
I do think this community is better than it is often made out to be, at least as far as gaming communities go.

People want Moira in a less detailed lab coat covering more of her frame, acting like if that was released they wouldn’t be conplainijg about how lazy just throwing a lab coat over even more of her model would have been.

To help you understand why it’s needed, we need to separate this into 2 parts:
1)For those who play the game regularly: It doesn’t really matter, and would be preferable for all of it to be a surprise, since we’re going to play and see what the event has, regardless of what’s revealed.
2)For those who don’t play Overwatch often: it’s essentially an advertisement meant to tell those people “hey, a new event is coming out, here’s some skins that you could potentially get!” This would be the target audience for skin reveals, to bring those people back to playing, and maybe even buy some lootboxes along the way to get that skin they want.

No, people complain because 3 of these characters are already on other PVE modes, there’s 30 characters and Blizzard decides to reuse characters already on the third event.
I would bet if they gave us a mode with a talon team or a team with characters not used on other PVE mode there would barely complains about it besides preference of characters. It would be mostly complains about skin, but the level has been going for a while there, so that part is not a surprise.
You’re free to get mad at the players, and players are free to get mad at Blizzard for not delivering. Were you furious about how Blizzard treated their players last events when they didn’t even bother with a new mode? When we are getting fewer skins each event? How they took CTF halfway through the event? No one is free of guilt here.
