their border rank being too high?
I honestly just want to know to see how common this is.
I’ve had OW since launch and don’t feel the need to smurf so my account is pretty high in border rank. It results in people telling me to “go outside” or “how are you diamond border and not (insert rank) in comp?”
Do you guys go through this?

I used to date a very comp. orientated guy and he would always send me screenshots of people being “only Grandmaster” with a diamond border.
He thought that with those hours you have to be high Top500, otherwise you were doing something wrong.
He even laughted about some Gold and sometimes even Silver borders being “only in GM” → which is actually so pathetic.
The game has been out for years and if I would count all my hours together, plus tournaments, then I would easily be a high gold border as well → and I made a one year break.
People seem to really forget how old this game already is …

I had this happen to me once but only recently, it actually made laugh, I didn’t see it as a negative, mostly because it doesn’t really make sense. I’m plat border in a 5 year old game. 2000 hours in 5 years is nothing.

Despite how stuck up that person was I have to admit they do have one point that makes sense. I’ve put in like 2500hr total I think across console/pc and I do know most of that time was ‘wasted’ in regards to actually trying to get better.
Though the rest is just intent. I 100% plateau’d from lack of caring. Around season10-13 I stopped caring trying to actively make changes. I just barely hit diamond. I hit my goal and stopped. The rest is just seasonal pve arcade and qp.

If you have a Plat border and only play competitive and you’re stuck in bronze…

It makes zero sense. Thousands of players and he expects everyone in the top…500.
Not to mention that each rank gets better over time. Someone has to be in certain ranks (and it will always be a bell shaped curve).
I bet today’s average plays better than release players or season 1, 2, 3…

This is the real truth about how the ranking system works that people don’t understand. It is impossible for anyone and everyone to be at X rank.

happened once in a match we got steamrolled on. support flamed all game for me being level 800 at 3.6 (and then proceeded to flame the rest of the team similarly)
that was it it was like the only match i lost that day

I have but it is really not that common as ppl make it be and usually it is before the match has even started. Either way I don’t care. It is just an easy report.
Also it is also one of the rarer complains and I haven’t experienced it lately.

I feels good to win against those talking crap though, but for some reason it doesn’t matter cause your diamond boarder bronze though, but then you lost to me so… what does that make of you. lmao.
I see this, but often it’s not even getting picked on. Players are just generally confused how someone could play the game so much but not really get good at it. Sometimes, but rarely, they’re being toxic about it. I mean I’ve asked this from some players that managed to have the full border but were gold players. As someone who doesn’t have the border yet it took me 12 games to get to 3200SR, this is literally a confusing thing for me and hence I’m intrigued to know how someone could maintain such level of play without improvement
Edit: Oh right and I’ve gotten a few answers, but basically usually it’s because these players have kinda bad setups where they play with laptops and can barely manage a steady 60fps while actively playing the game with their casual friends in groups which makes them focus more on having fun together which also gives them the group XP boost throughout their careers that bloats their levels. Play from the release like this and you’ll reach a rather high border without even trying

Every once in a while it’ll happen. Its almost always the overtly obvious alt accounts that do it though, so I just shrug it off. Just some random acting out because its not their main account. At least, I would hope this is the case lmao even if its not, making a judgement on someone based on a single performance in a non-rated match, is just not even worth reading.

Well, in gold it IS that common. Get flamed every 3rd match for being gold with gold border - literally bullied. Maybe it’s just the EU Servers idfk.
