Any tips on blade?

I don’t play Genji that much but I just wanna make sure that when I do, I get consistent blades with at least 2 kills per blade without nano. Any tips?

Without nano?

Depends on what rank you play in

Masters+ using raw blade 9/10 times results in 1 kill which is yourself but in lower ranks you can get away with it, make sure to wait for the enemy defensive cooldowns to be down, dash up into the air or through their tanks into the backline, pull out blade and pounce on their supports by using slash dash slash in quick succession and deflect if needed.

See, the problem with Genji is that he isn’t a hero you can casually play from time to time. He requires high muscle memory and dedication

With nano you can get multi kills

But without nano (or any damage boost), it becomes much harder just to get 1 kill. But it is crucial that you get 1 immediate kill right after you pop ult. Cause sure, you get 1 dash reset when Dragonblade is pop, but what happened after you failed to get 1 kill? Now you are a 200 HP melee target that is subjected to the mercy of this game CC.

So yeah, only pop naked blade when you can guarantee a kill right after you dash in, otherwise… wait for a nano or damage boost.

i say the most important in blading is to get your first kill

its the hardest one

getting 2nd kill or 3rd kill are not as hard as the first kill, because how reset works

so probably best tips i can get is not too rush it and plan it first, like see if enemy zarya use team buble, or which enemy ult u have to avoid like grav / shatter etc, or enemy team distrated enough that u can blade without 6 people looking at you

Only use dry blade as a dash reset, its honestly a throw ult at this point.

Sounds like I’m gonna need an ana duo after all. I figured nano blade was good but I forgot how weak blade can be by itself

Wait for a good time to use it so the entire team isn’t looking at you.

You’re not going to get 2 kills consistently with the raw blade at any rank. It’s too easy to shut down, especially since the pointless nerf to 110. You’d be better off finding a Mercy or Ana to duo with.

With that said, you increase your chances of survival by using the classic strategy of dashing into the air, blading, then dashing to your target, though obviously you should never use the reset to engage anyone that can displace you or escape, such as Lucio or Mercy. Dash at or behind their feet to avoid overshooting.

biggest tip I have is use it for a good reason. Make sure that when you use it, you’re positive that your targets don’t have escapes or stuns. Make sure you’re not gonna get screwed by a bubble or a lamp. Get that intuition really, really good. :ok_hand:

Dry blade is basically worthless. Getting anything at all done with it is a job well done. Most of gengi’s power is in his shurkins and with dmg boost.

Most of genji’s power is in deaths per 10.

it all depends on WHICH combo you use to get your 1st kill.

whether you dash into your target and then get 2 slashes
OR
slash the enemy twice and then dash into the next enemy.

the 2nd combo is better for follow up kills and dash resets, as you are using the killing dash to get early damage on the next target.

also if you a mature enough to realise you arent going to get a 6K you can go for the weaker combo, and carry on fighting.

Wait until key cooldowns/ults that can screw you over have been used. Make sure you’re close to the enemy so you can start swinging on them right away without commiting your dash. Save your dash to pursue targets who use their own mobility to flee, or to quickly finish off somebody who is low.
