Any mouse input results in stuttering

If I do not move the mouse or press keys, the game runs smoothly. When I first launch the game, I can play for maybe 1 match or so before this problem begins occurring.

However, at some point the game will suddenly begin stuttering whenever there is any mouse input. As soon as I stop moving the mouse, the framerate instantly returns to normal (consistent around 90 fps). As soon as I touch the mouse again, it instantly begins continuously stuttering again (shows around 30 fps, but feels like 15). Spectating without moving the mouse is very smooth and has no issues.

I am playing on Steam Deck through Lutris and I give the game a few minutes to recompile the shaders until it runs smoothly whenever I first launch it, but I’ve even had the same thing happen in Overwatch 1 on my previous Windows 11 desktop.

I see lots of posts about massive frame drops, but I haven’t found much tying the frame drops directly to mouse input. Some people suggest 1000hz polling rate can cause it in some other games, but I’ve tried it with 500hz, 125hz, and with a generic wired mouse and still had the same problems.

I have it with keyboard input. Mouse is fine.

Does it happen only for the brief moment you press or release a key? If I don’t touch the mouse, I’ll get a single hiccup when I press a key, and another when I release it.

Or does it just constantly stutter as you hold down a key?
