So I thought having a simple name like Sam would be cool, but then I realised that I am just an idiot who changed my name into something stupid, can someone out there please tell or give me some nice overwatch usertags for me to change to next time??

Name yourself after your favorite character from an anime (if you watch them) or your favorite character from a game, or your favorite god/goddess from different mythologies around the world

Frankly, Sam is really nice after seeing long, overdone, convoluted, unreadable, mostly untypable, or cringe names. Most names are a mix of one or two of these.
Sometimes simple is the best option.

I never had this kind of problem. Everywhere that this name is not taken, I pick Nibelung. It helps breeding identity over all the games you play over time. I had more than one situation where some random person recognize me from another game.
Said that, Sam looks fine to me. If you are not satisfied for whatever reason, I think choosing a handle that you enjoy is better than copying someone else’s idea of what they find cool.
I wanted to do something like this in other games but you can’t have the same nickname as someone else in most of the except for Steam and Blizzard so if you want to change your Overwatch name does it matter? I wanted to change it to something like Soft or s0ft. But yeah I used all of my nickname changed on all 3 accounts already to stupid names lmao.
This nickname Vark is some kind of a meme between me and my Overwatch friends. Someone tried to say Pig in Dutch, he messed it up and we found it funny and since I’m the dutch guy I took the name. Lol

The third one is a meme of my irl friend that I played Dark Souls 3 with, I had a character where I would keep beating him with and he was a damn pro at dark souls 3. It was called LordFatGingoru but that’s too long for Blizzard so I shortened it to FatGingoru (in some kinda bad letters… Idk why).

So maybe think about using a short meme made by friends. (I have a feeling some people are gonna joke about not having friends now…)

Pick something that is easy to use in coms, one or two syllables.
Pick something that rolls off the tongue well.
Don’t pick something that sounds even remotely Japanese, even if that wasn’t the intent. You won’t ever hear the end of it.
Take it from someone who failed all three points.
I personally enjoy names that are references, such as IDDQD. And going back to that, I saw someone with the name Wampa Stompa and I was like… That guy is cool.
Stick with what you’ve got. I’m sick of seeing names like XxShadowBanexX, PantsyPants and ɆⱠł₮Ɇ฿Ʉ₥. You’re fine how you are Sam. 
take ur irlname and put a word next to it. (i assume sam is ur irlname) SamSmash, SamLash, Samicious, Samattack. Like that you made an original name and ur likely hood of encoutering someone else with tht name is 1/10000000
Do something like this and I’ll use my name as an example.
Take a reference from something. A favorite show, character, book, comic, something that you know and really like.
For me, I took the name from the Dog from Tom and Jerry, Spike. it’s been a name I’ve used online since I was first introduced and it just stuck. Seeing how common spike as a name is, I altered it’s spelling to Spyke, with a Y instead of an I.
Then as that was also bound to be taken, I just added the first letter of my IRL first name. Ending up with SpykeJ.
It’s not obvious, it’s not super long and I like the reference. Then when someone asks, you can tell them and 
Of course, having the specific letter or number attached isn’t necessary just something I decided to do as Spike is a common name used online by many people. It was just away for me to make it my own. That also applies with the altered spelling, It’s common so I spelt it in a different way. If the name you choose is more uncommon you may not have to do that, unless you want too.
Try to make a compound word out of two things you like.
