Any aim tips for a console player?

heres a post that ISNT about season 3! exciting!

anyways ive been playing overwatch since 2018 but i feel like my aim cannot get any better, i know all strats and what to do but my aim average is 28%-35%.
I’ve tried alot of tricks like custom gamemodes specifically for aim training, altering aim settings, fixing up custom crosshairs to fit the characters and so on but i feel like im not improving!

does anyone have any tips of what i can do to better my aim? give me any suggestions like aim settings, crosshairs, workshop maps and just whatever, general tips is fine just dumo everything you got because i SERIOUSLY need to get my aim game up. thanks!

Play on PC. You will never have better aim on console, it’s why you have aim assist in the first place.

Mess with settings, a lot. You’ll find it crazy how different your aim feels on different settings. Once you find something that feels natural, its all about practice.

Yea, not to mention you dont have to worry about getting falsely banned because people get salty and falsely report you for using a xim

Even some of the highest-performing PC players have similar numbers, usually only a little higher (like 30-40%). Props for hitting those numbers on an analog stick.

It’s gonna vary for everyone, but honestly I’ve been playing for 2 years and my aim is very different every time I play.

I think there’s something about controllers where consistency is harder. As always practice goes a long way, and there’s also lots of aim trainer custom games out there.

ill try to mess around with my aim settings more and see if i get any good results!

A specifically good thing to try is “aim type”, exponential ramp, linear ramp, etc. They make it feel quite a bit different.

Secret trick is to shoot the tank all the time to boost your accuracy :sunglasses:

I’m top 500 on console. Finding the right settings is extremely important. I have mine set to;

Horizontal sensitivity: 100
Vertical sensitivity: 65
Aim assist strength: 100
Aim assist window size: 40-65(this one I change often, sometimes the window feels to big, other times it doesn’t.

Don’t even attempt to do any settings in which the aim assist is below 90%. It’s just not worth it when using a controller. I used to play with 0% aim assist and managed to climb to gold, but was completely hard stuck at that rank. Once I changed the settings back to strong aim assist, I instantly shot up in ranks

No way? I average 57% hit accuracy on cass on console?

Even though a lot of videos on the net says to you down aim smoothing to 0, I find myself comfortable with 95% on some hitscans. I think aim smoothing is the best option for you to try it out first and then compensate on the sensibility after.

I also think a lower window size for hitscans works better for me while max window size is good for characters like sombra and Dva

About crosshairs, I changed mine for hitscans to a green colored cross and lines in a small size with a little bit turned up thickness to it.

Play on current gen and get a 120hz monitor. You’ll notice a big difference. 60hz heavily handicaps you especially in Overwatch where controller aiming is terrible compared to the other popular shooters.

Honestly just play more. Try different aim trainer’s and find one you like best.

I was a masters flex player on console.

Mess with your aim settings and then go to workshop modes that are for aim. Practice makes perfect, I have beaten several PC players so don’t listen to the “buy a pc”

i tried out some settings and played a aim trainer map and i rhink ive improved on long-distance shots but close distance id even worse than before
random stats:
zen: 32% average aim
junkrat: 28% average aim (no change)
and suprizingly Cassidy: 50% aim.

i gotta do some changes to junkrat personally but seeing Cas have 50% aim average is actual insanity to me. i don’t even play him

Oh I thought aim assist was broken?
