What season is it? How long has this game been out? Why is quick play flooded with cheating? When will it finally end up being punished? Can we get a price tag on the game? How long do we need to deal with this nonsense? I am seeing projectile hacks…wall hacking in over half my games, blatant aim bots, stacks cheating…in qp. I dont even want to go to comp. At what point do we get some integrity injected into the game and get a working anti cheat?
I doubt it’s flooded with cheating. There will always be lame players that cheat, I don’t ever see that coming to an end. But some players act like it’s in most matches by a mile.
there is anti cheat but cheat makers find ways around it even rockstar games has issues with cheating
Right? A free to play game with blizzards level of non kernel based anti cheat?
Surely no one would cheat that set up.
1 in 3 matches today, i have had to report them from both the enemy and my own team…
Where did I say no one is cheating?
Same…I reported a cass on my own team today. I called out one cheater and instead of watchign replays my team decided they wanted to defend him and spam the voice chat with audio like clowns.
Sad thing I play solo. So when I see this and see people defending it I automatically assume at some level they are part of the problem now as well. My friends all quit playing bc of this nonsense and I am close to doing the same.
i feel like they cheating is gonna keep happening until hardware level bans happen
Very much so, give me the kernal level anti cheat and be done with it, seeing it will just keep going until they do.
i hear you, the worst part is , you get in 5 or 6 of these games with them get stupidly stomped, then the blizzard system comes along Fixes you a winning match which then becomes you stomping on some lowbies, and the whole time you feel like crap because that was you last round…
I would not hold my breath for an 8-year-old game all of a sudden getting a modern day anti-cheat system.
Either play the game as it is, or move along to another game.
This is the sort of response that allows this nonsense to fester. We should not have to be ok with the state of cheating. We should not accept it. That is what will ultimately kill this game.
You didnt. You said it wasnt “Flooded” with cheaters. When I said no one, i meant it in the colloquial sense, not the literal sense.
My response is that of reality. This is a free to play a game. Some of us paid for the game when it was called OverWatch 1. Now it’s nonsensical OverWatch 2. The only money they’re making is from skin and battle pass sales. Decent level anti-cheat software will cost money along with licensing.
Players will still play regardless of who they allege is cheating out there. Either deal, or move along.
i think warden does run at ring 0 (kernel)
So there’s already anti-cheat. The problems are.
- New cheats come out all the time.
- Developing new countermeasure is time consuming and a never ending task.
- They don’t do hardware bans for cheating so cheaters just go make a new account.
And before people bring it up, kernel level anti-cheat doesn’t work any better (has all the same issues) and decreased the security on your machine making you personally more vulnerable to cyber attack. You should never install a game with kernel level anti-cheat.
What Blizzard needs to do.
- Invest more manpower (time / money) developing countermeasures against cheating.
- Implement hardware bans for cheat bans.
Yes…the players that dont cheat should move on bc the players that do cheat dont get punished. While i agree with you there is only 1 logical outcome maybe before it gets to that point they try a more sophisticated anti cheat. The game currently is being gamed by basic hacks that people can turn up to 100000 and for some reason the anti cheat cant pick it up. Either the anti cheat is the worst in gaming history or it simply doesnt exist and the Devs have been lying the whole time.
nope, sadly, Warden uses API function calls to collect data on open programs on the user’s computer and sends it back to Blizzard servers as hash values to be compared to those of known cheating programs.
Kernal level they would have a lot more visibility and could do things like other games that close if they detect any keyboard/mouse macro software like Corsair Icue or Logitec Ghub.
heck i would submit them cheats if they scratch my back with submitting them cheat programs that i can get ahold of i scratch their back
This is probably the only answer. We should bring back the paywall and kick these rats out. Sure people can buy 1 or 2 or 5 accounts, but soon that will add up on their card and then they go elsewere.
Loyal players will always buy the game.
I was surprised to see this one on the Newyork map.
I am thinking end of the year or OW3.
Flooded is not the word but 3 of 5 games are.
What I see is more helpful is. you should log the report and try to give them as much information as possible. Bans happen way faster.
Is this even possible ?
So we just accept cheating ? Why am i buying battle pass and their skins ? To feel like crap ?
See this. Never accept cheating, you flush rats out. Not live with them.
Which is ok. Quality is always better than Quantity. I have always paid and bought what the game has put out in OW1 and now in OW2. Loyal customers
They cant do that.
Dont worry guys…just ran into a 3 stack in qp. Mauga using aim bot, soldier hard locking, Kiriko doing perfect 180 headshot flicks with zero overcorrection. Called it out…they brought in a spectator to trash talk my team.
You know maybe its my current player pool. I am a little isolated from the rest of America. Maybe its just the players here in Alaska are cheating. I dont know…seems to happen far to often to be legitimate.
