If a tank doesn’t defend correctly aka put a shield up and do whatever the other tanks do. They are held accountable.
If a healer doesn’t heal. They are held accountable.
Now why is it that DPS get a pass? 9 times out of 10 they are the reason for an L
You cannot aim to save your life? Pass
You cannot do enough damage? Pass
You cannot get kills when necessary? Pass
By “Pass” I mean literal blizzard involvement. Tanks that let the team die get reported all the time for throwing. Healers that don’t heal get reported too. But the DPS who cannot damage? Made fun of in chat.
Ever took a look at these forums? Like just a couple of minutes on the front page of general discussion is enough. Then you’ll see that it’s exactly the opposite of what you’re saying. Biased much?
Um, there are tons of posts by tanks and supports saying how the game is full of dps players who never switch off, one-trick, or completely stink up the map with their inability to kill anything.
No class is safe here. No hero is safe here. There are entire groups of like-minded people complaining about this that and the other. Scroll through posts a few times a days and you’ll see.
The forums are an equal opportunity whine-a-torium.
You do realize that’s it’s the exact opposite of what you are describing, right, OP? DPS are the ones that are blamed constantly and healers and tanks get the free pass most of the time.
I find the opposite to be true in my games. Regardless of what the problem actually is, a DPS catches the blame, especially if there’s a perceived off-meta DPS.
You think DPS get a pass?
You can have 3-4 damage heroes splitting up in a attack/defend map and not being able to do the objective or get picks. Only thing to come out of this situation is a bunch of players getting upset about coordination even though they haven’t throughout a match in QP.
Healers and Tanks are the most essential roles in game and seeing them not doing their job or helping the team out can be lead to reports or players avoiding them. Same thing can happen to damage as well if they ain’t doing their job and they act immature in chat. No one gets a pass if they act immature about their playstyle.
This is a place where 3 years now people begged for DPS nerfs, especially right now when we are in the middle of a Tank/Healer meta.
If anything DPS got blamed for pretty much every short coming of the team:
Couldn’t get kill cause they are running a bunker comp and you only have Roadhog/Zarya for tank? DPS fault.
Couldn’t get kills because the healers went commando and go in front of the shield and dies? DPS fault
Just exist in general? DPS fault
Sure DPS players are often the least switching types of players, but I have seen more hostilities point towards them on this forum than the Tanks and Healers.
Tanks and healers should not be getting reported for sucking. If they are throwing—i.e., literally refusing to use their defensive or healing kits because lol—then sure, report away. Just like you’d report the Torb for hucking turrets off a cliff, or a Mei walling your own team, etc. etc.
Everyone has a stinker of a game sometimes, and they should not get reported for that. An Ana who misses her shots shouldn’t get reported any faster than a Widow who does. A Reinhardt who misjudges dropping his shield shouldn’t get reported any more than a Pharah who accidentally explodes herself against her cover.
There’s a big difference between players who fail to do A Good, and players who are purposefully doing A Bad. The latter are the only kind that should get reported, whatever class they are playing.
I can’t be biased when I literally play all the roles. But I’m talking in game not on the forum lol if we went by these forums everything would be nerfed and somehow people would still scream OP and Unfair.
I guess I’m of a minority here where I actually don’t see DPS get blamed as much as Tanks and Healers. I have no answer for either side though because it’s really weird to be blaming people in a team-based game in my opinion.
I mean, I wouldn’t say they get a pass, but I definitely see people in chats yell more about ‘not getting heals’ when they’re literally separated from the other team miles away behind walls.
OP you’re sounding a lot like you’ve never play DPS Overwatch before.
Try playing the role in competitive, see what your teammates reactions are when you lose.
I mean I had a guy on our team a while back put up his shield sure. But he walked backwards into the enemies shouting. “ITS OK GUYS I GOT THIS!” And promptly died over and over again. I know its trolling but I found it funny. I guess it all depends on context. That guy was actively throwing so we reported him even if he had a shield up. If there is a rusty guy or someone having just a bad time I don’t hold them accountable unless its blatantly throwing. It goes for all players no-matter what. But thats my own view on the game.
Well for starters, DPS rely heavily on tanks to create space. Tanks however don’t really rely on dps to do their job properly. Sure, it won’t accomplish anything if the dps aren’t following up, but it’s still up to the tank player to make the right play.
In fact, when dps aren’t getting kills, the fault lies easily just as often in the tanks as it does in the dps. On ladder the tanks are also the worst played role that there is, despite them also having the biggest impact. Lot of the time, people who pick main tank just passively hold a shield at the choke or on the point. As a wise man recently said: most people think main tanks are BOB.
There aren’t a lot of excuses for a healer to let someone die when they can save him. You can’t miss the heals, so it’s either a case of the healer not being aware of what’s going on, the enemy simply dealing too much damage or the healer letting the dps die on purpose.
On top of that, the situation is pretty much the exact opposite. A lot of the time dps are expected to carry, while the supports and the tanks get a free pass on criticism for simply picking a support/tank hero. It doesn’t matter if all they are doing is pump heals into the tanks or hold a shield at the choke (or dm around the map if they’re playing an off-tank).
You’re actually detached from reality if you think that this is the case… The EXACT OPPOSITE has been happening since season 2. Tanks and healer get a huge pass while dps players get all the blame. If you flexed more you’d know this. Grow up and be realistic.
he is talking about being reported not being made fun off. Tanks/heals gets reported but not made fun of, while dps gets made fun off but not reported for poor play
