Another source of XP removed from the game

And nobody even bats an eye. There are no more seasonal challenges apparently, which previously made up a big bulk of XP for the season.

It’s not like they didn’t have anything to put there either. Juno release, some Reaper challenges, some Anubis and Hanaoka challenges. But nope, they’re just gonna keep removing challenges until you barely have enough XP if you play every single day of the week.

I mean with the pooling of weekly quests that now exists it is easier than ever before to complete your Battle Pass. You could start week 6 and be done easily using the weeklies to catch up on your missing exp.

I agree with the first part; however, you only get around 20 levels from the weekly missions and weekly bonuses. Especially because you wouldn’t be able to complete them all in two to three weeks anyways. You sort of have to commit to competitive OR quickplay and the progression level challenge, while it helps achieve that 20k bonus, is useless for quick grinding. Not to mention regular completion of that challenge boxes you out from reliably clearing it week after week to begin with.

It is all just a scheme to force you to log-in daily, more or less. For engagement (and queue time) purposes. They are not being particularly subtle about it.

It does seem like my progress is going slower this season (last season, too). Last season was the first time I didn’t hit BP lvl 200, but I’m only like 52 so far this time. Guess seasonal challenges are part of that.

Level 200 is a different beast. You have to no life the game to get there. The only time I ever did it was during the Mauga season when I was abusing him before they ruined him and it was NOT easy even with regular play.

I did it during OW2 very first season. Earned nothing but a “Cyberdemon” title, but at least I did it.

It’s not bad for me. I normally play for an hour and a half after work every weekday with friends (yay group xp bonus) and usually a couple of hours of competitive on either Sat/Sun.

I think what does it for me is the dailies. I always queue as flex for my first 3 games, which should always get your 3 dailies done, then play Mystery Heroes the rest of the session. That gets all my weeklies done, too, except the “play competitive matches” one, which usually takes a couple of weeks to finish.

Not saying they should drop seasonal challenges, especially when they have sprays or weapon charms tied to them over just XP. But I assume for this season they will have bonus challenges when they bring back the anniversary stuff. They mentioned like 2 separate events for that or something.

Except that there are less challenges (from 12 down to 5, so 30,000 xp to something like 7,000 xp) and less overall xp per week (by 25,000 from what it was in the previous iterations). Fairly certain dailies also were minimized by like 1k as well.

The only benefit is that you can now do it at any point of the season, but it’s still ridiculously slow to grind through those. You also lose out on 45k every season if you don’t play competitive.

It is overall vastly worse for the players.

This is the first season I’ve struggled to breach level 40 before the midseason, so it’s not looking too good.

Yeah, but events were always separate from seasonal content. Usually we got two event sets, the seasonal set, the weeklies, and the dailies.
