Another matchmaker thread

This happens consistently. How do I win 6 games in a row with “good” team mates. Tank swapping and positioning in spots to be healed. Dps peeling and also being smart about cover to receive heals. Then I lose just as many matches and somehow get people running it down main and feeding their brains out. If I won 6 in a row and got to a higher rank why are my team mates worse than the lower ranks just to make me drop and get good team mates again.

The answer is: a broken engagement-optimized matchmaking system. Unless you are either one of the worst players or one of the very best, the MMR may as well be a lottery number because it is almost always inaccurate to a degree that makes it virtually useless as a basis to form matches.

Now, normally you’d have players play quite often and “calibrate” that MMR. In reality almost no one plays with any regularity and the frequent changes to heroes and even core game mechanics make it hard for anyone that’s, again, not the worst or the best player to perform consistently across many matches. Then you have smurfs, boosters, and cheaters(boosters are often cheaters on throwaway accounts), which are farming the hell out of the ranked population to make a small amount of money. Then you have tired and tilted players, none of which helps things one bit. So…unless this game dies it will just be forever bad.

The grind in overwatch is way too much. Ain’t very many regular working adults playing 100 to 200 games a season. Especially in the state it’s in right now, let alone the time requirement that has to it.
