Another hero shooter solved Hanzo/Sniper problem

Marvel Rivals just released Hawkeye - their version of Hanzo. And their take on one-shotting bowman is elegant:

  1. Fully charged shots deal big damage, but not enough to one-shot anyone
  2. However, it can be overcharged if player is aiming at enemy while charging. Overcharged shots deal even more damage and able to one-shot.

I think it is a brilling solution to fix arrow spamming and random one-shots from corners, while still providing hero with ability to one-shot enemies by actually using aim.

The same could work for Widow, actually.

This checks out, brilliant.

For the umptieth time:
– Widow doesn’t have the “random headshot” problem
– Widow doesn’t have a “behind the corner” problem
– If Widow will not be able to OHK with headshots, there will be absolutely no reason to have her on the roaster

For projectile spam = I agree, this is a good workaround.

Waittt I kind of like this although I’m not sure how it would play out in reality. OW hero movement is really hard to track for a lot of people due to lack of movement acceleration and heroes being so mobile. But it would be interesting to test at least!

Well… in Rivals mobility is arguably even more of an issue for those who want to track:
– Half the roaster can stick to walls
– Half the roaster can climb those walls
– Maps don’t seem to have “upper ledges” like OW, so you can hide on those roofs
– Destructible environment means unpredictable routes
– Destructible environment means often janky movement
– Half the roaster can yeet themselves around the map
– Half the roaster can just fly around
– 3rd person view and its interaction with “behind me” walls is tricky

So I’m not sure it will be easier. I watched some Spiderman plays from Necros in CBT and my brain started hurting after 5 minutes at all the movement and flickering and crazy dashes.

Delete her from the game then, I see it as an absolute win

I don’t think that is a solution. It’s my opinion, of course, but I never felt her OHK as an issue. “Spamzo” random arrows from nowhere? Yes, because that’s not skill, that’s spam.

– If Widow is consistently picking the team off, it’s a sign the counter-play is not there
– If Widow pulled off that crazy flick-shot on me, I say, well played
– If I’m playing in my skill brackets, so = far from that top-5%, Widow rarely is even that useful and an equivalent skill level Soj, Ashe or Cowboy is usually a greater danger
– All of the complains I always see are people unwilling to adjust their play style and contest the Widow

I’ve always suspected OW2 goes with the path of least resistance, but after OWC it became clear as day it does. All the sharp edges were removed because “people were inconvenienced”. Well, duh. It’s a game where you need to play around the strategy the enemy tries to employ. But again - complaing is easier.

Another MR did something, OKAY, but still:

THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE
THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE
THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE

They can release Monica Livinsky paired with Clinton if they want, that would be OPAF in THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE.
The game is trash at its core. It is not FPS.

I heard she died of ligma

Own how cute, he just like a game that you can see the weapon on screen

I don’t think it even tries to be one? It’s not FPS by definition. Just like any 3rd person game. It’s like pointing out that StarCraft is not an FPS. I mean … “duh”?

Eeeeh none of those are nearly as hard to track as an instantaneous direction change. Infinite movement accel is right next to quickscopes as the most broken mechanic in fps history

yep huge fan of the marvel rivals “sniper” implementation. It’s crazy how different you can make two archer characters just with slight tweaks to make them healthier. and we’ll see how bad overwatch’s problem is when you go from a hero like Hawk to a Hanzo or Widow

would be nice for widow to play like Hawk too.

Or they can simply whenever u hit widow maker her scope shakes and it takes a few seconds to re proper your aim.

So what’s the difference then between overcharging and just having what’s basically an extra long charge time? Does Hawkeye have to track people while Overcharging to make it work?

With a long charge time, you can just stare down a hallway or hold a corner. Hawkeye’s charge mechanic looks like he’ll have to be more active in a fight to keep his damage up.

Yeah. His crosshair has to be on an enemy to gain any charge. It drops off pretty fast too if he loses his tracking. But his arrows still hurt a lot without charge from what I’ve seen.

Did you know hanzo can see you through walls?
So if he had that “this will fix it” thing, it actually wouldn’t.

Weird haw different games are different.
One might even think they aren’t the same game. Or not even trying to be.

If you get camped by a sniper you’re gonna have an annoying time. Doesn’t matter what game you’re playing.

nah haweye is a b tier basic bee compared to the dragon shimmada is, let me tell you straight up, if you die to hanzo a lot, its a you problem.

hawkeye will never ever meassure up to hanzo in anyway.

he is a clown running circus show.

Hanzo is a king commanding dragons.

they solved nothing but made their archer basic which is why they gave him genji blade as well to compensate for his failure as a bowman.

If Widow had to charge to oneshot then most characters would be able to kill her before she could do that.
Hanzo would kill her first every time, so would Mei, Torb, Zen… pretty much anyone with range.

It wont work, snipers will inevitably ruin that game the same as they ruined this one. All this “system” does it add to the cheaters arsenal.
